My brothers engine kinda died. The 3rd cylinder and piston are damaged as on the 2 pics:

So the engine needs to get out of the car. I've learned that a 4x4 engine should come out through the bottom.
Any more hints / tips to make this proces as easy as posible. What goes out first, second etc.
It will be the first time removing and rebuilding an YB engine after doing a few CVH's and a ZVH for us. So any help is welcome

tried it both ways and i thought taking it out the bottom was FAR easier, but up to you i guess.
From memory, so i'll miss out some bits!
1) disconnect all wiring from engine
2)Disconnect steering column from rack
3) disconnect PAS pipes at tank
4) Disconnect rear propshaft
5)unbolt gearbox from inside the car
6)Undo ARB from chasiss
7)Unbold gearbox cradle
8)undo suspension from strut tops
And basically if you use and engine hoist onto the front of the car you can lift the car up and roll/drag the remains out.
BUT may I suggest that you put up a seperate thread asking if there is anyone local to you that has done this before as you'll get alot of good guideance and it will be alot quicker under the instruction of a knowledgeable person

Thanks for the list rog
Fortunatly there aren't a lot of guys around our area who drive a Cosworth. Infact there aren't a whole lot of Cosworths in The Netherlands.
Guess we have to find out ourselfs but your little list is a good help to start with

Lol I forgot about unbolting the cross member for the engine, 2 bolts on either side, if you look at the bottom of this page it links to other related posts on this subject, that will definately cover the whole thing for you.
