Default Mike Rainbird Fast Ford Magazine!!!

Was just going through my Fast Ford Mags and was reading through the December 2007 with Mike Rainbird's Geared Up section. Got really into it and his knowledge on Cosworths which made me go back even more issues and read his sections on Exhaust, ECUs, Gauge etc

Being only 23 and only owning a cosworth for 9 months before selling it to fund my second degree i never got the chance to actually modify or learn things about the car.

However just reading Mikes Sections in Fast Ford has really got me wanting to learn more about Engine Builds and what not.

Where would be the best place to start learning about it??? I've worked in my dads garage before but mainly minor things as i was still young but i would really like to learn and seeing as i have the next 4 months off, may aswell learn something.

Any advice would be great

Thanks!!!

Im not aware of Mike ever having built an engine TBH, but Stu Sanderson certainly has and his column in fast ford is always WELL worth a read IMHO as per the link above

It was that bit I was referring to, if he is interested in engine builds, then Stu's articles should be great for him.

from the looks of it, mike's enigne build stuff is specifclly for his engine designed for his specs

stu's articles, broadly speaking, delve into the depths of how engines work, why they work, what to check if they don't work as well as they should and what to avoid to make them not work anymore

engine building is simple as screwing stuff together, screwing the right stuff toggether, with the correctly ordered bits to make the pwoer you shoudl see, might still be one of them deeply gaurded secrets that tuners won't divulge until you've spent lots of money with them
