my escort van often sits for 4 or 5 months at a time and always starts first turn of the key. i dont have it alarmed to run it down though. perhaps starting it on a weekly basis just to give it a tick over would help? i would have thought a 2 month old battery would last though?

Do you disconnect the battery when it's stood?

my cossy comes out once a month normally,it stands in the garage all the alarm and immobiliser going all the time, never runs the battery down,i start it once every 2weeks,it stood for 6weeks through winter and still started so you could have a little drain somewhere, loose battery lead etc? if it started and then wouldnt start again could it be a turbo cooking your starter cos the heat sheild is nakered?

i had that for a while with my orion turbo.

it was the little bluie wire off the alternator had degraded and was intermittent. if i swithched it on and off within about 5 mins the battery hadn't recovered enough and it wouldn't be able to start the car. i would turn over the engine half a turn, then die.

Must be a drain on the battery somewhere. Mine doesn't move month to month sometimes but it always fires up on the button It's been at my mates house nearly a month now and he didn't have any issues starting it to drive it to the station the other day.

Get an ammeter on it and check the parasitic load before doing anything else. (charge the battery fully first)

Sounds like it may have a loose connection somewhere.

May just need using, all this starting every week and that for 10 min utes does not put the same charge back in as you take out, so it becomes even more drained.
There's a old biddy round here I fitted a C tek to her car as she uses 3 times a week for a 2 mile journey(mile easch way), battery was becoming flat all the time as alarmed etc.
A better battery type to suit would pay dividends, ie a AGM, would be vastly more suited to this kind of work, and would not suffer damage everytime it gets a bit flat.
