i have removed the cams to replace tappets, cam bearings, new gaskets and all belts.

one of the bearing cap studs has a loose thread so i tightened it down with two nuts and then thread locked them. i managed to get it really tight in the end though do you think this will be ok?

also, i have reused some bearing cap nuts as they are only 12 months old.

i am having to do this all over again because i bought cheap tappets off ebay the first time and now i've replaced them with ina tappets from matt lewis.

Use time sert to fix your thread, i done this many times, never problem after

 

There's no need to change the bearing cap nuts anyway.
The stud doesn't have a great force on it from the torqueing up poundage, so hopefully be ok, but if not do as said time sert etc.

I would do all you can to make sure they are on uber tight.
I snapped a cam because of this, and that was after helicoilin one or two cos i wasnt happy with the thread.

Just a heads up.

 

Std tightness is fine, doing them "uber tight" is what kills them.

Please do, it's not rocket science, trying to put two forces either side of a piece of alloy that doesn't want to compress, 1 of two things is going to happen, a thread is going to pull, or the cap is going to squash, the thread in the head is the weakest part, but perfectly fine for std torque.
