air con is mounted that side, the factory mounts for that may help you out...

the later model ps was mounted under the alternator on multigroove belt type

Ive done 2 now mate for both Mine and Lees Westy Kit cars. One using a standard Cossie alternator and one a very small Denso one. Denso one needed a new pully and I got a fancy adjuster bar from a friend who had some laser cut.

Really easy using the power steering pump mount bolts on the inlet side.

Made the brackets and fitted new adjuster brackets underneath.

Only watchout is you have to keep it really low which means the angle of the belt causes it to rub on the crank sensor. Easy small mod to that though sorts this problem.

Funny you asked I was looking and moving some pics off my phone last night!

Not sure if you guys are still running power steering as I used the mount holes on the block that the PS bracket usually goes into.

Basically the alternator hangs upside down from its main mounts and the adjuster bar is fixed to the bottom of the new mount (if that makes sense)

Why would you want to remove the power steering to put an alternator in its place?

to make the car lighter and to stop the alternator overheating as is the case now.

Rich the alternator is suffering badly from heat from the turbo hence him wanting to move it to the other side of the engine as he is doing away with the power steering setup.

Would an alternator drop bracket not help with the heat issue or has that already been done?

the 4wd p/s pump is under the alternator turbo side, so tou can put the alternator where the air con pump would sit or where a 2wd p/s pump would sit and still remain p/s as its still on its original postion

but i think hes removing p/s anyhow

The setup on his engine is basically a full 2wd setup, alternator on turbo side of engine and p/s pump the other side.

if you have a full 2wd setup why not have an rs500 drop bracket made to drop alternator even further i had one made for my old escos to drop the alternator 20mm lower than it sat on a 500

never had any alternator issues due to heat on mine and by fook it got a hard time

wenny you might want to make your own bracket as the air con one is cast and weighs about half a ton!

kev it has the lower one on but its done 2 alts lately, so with the p/s coming off im going to put it over that side

anyone wanting to do this, ive found a easy way to do it, us the base part of a 2wd power steering pump bracket, upside down with the block blank bolted back on, job done with a spacer on the long altenator bolt
