Default drivers Door card repair

hi Guys

has anyone ever repaired their drivers dorrcard, its not torn but it is crushed and sagged.

I keep thinking that ill just take the doorcard off streighten the card behind it as best as possible and then use some fibreglass filler of some resin but then how would i keep it held in place.

Any info or pics would be great as its the only thing that lets the interior down

cheers

Rob

yeh everyone has this problem i think.
Please correct me if im wrong.
All i done with mine was fiberglass the back also put a bit of tigar seal on first for a bit of strength, then filled the front with clear silicone to give the impression of the foam, that was in there at one point (also make it soft to the touch) it took a bit for the silicone to go off, but looks very good, will try a get some pic up.

mine had sagged to the point where the card backing had burst through, and generally was looking terrible

i cleared up the old hanging off bits of cardboard, so only fairly solid stuff remained. then got the fibreglass kit out, laid on some fibreglass sheeting with some heavy coats of resin, and with the card inverted so that gravity kind of held the fibreglass in place whilst drying.

and to force it back into the original shape i cut some wood so that there was a piece similar in size to the underside of the bolster, and then braced it tightly in place using sum wood wedged between that and the lower lip on the doorcard, if that makes sense

turned out fine, the original ofam was still there so it wasnt just a solid arm rest, and by bracing it with wood when drying, the original shape was retained and there was no residual slack left in the covering material
