Here's a few picture's of yet another nearside hub thats broken up on my Escort.This must be the 6th or 7th since I started doing trackdays back in '94.Posted about this back in 2006,and no one else seems to be having this happen.I've also brken the end of 3/4 nearside CV joints too over the years!!Anyway,enjoy...........




New bearings fitted,2nd hand hub fitted,and a new CV joint fitted,just in case it felt like breaking!!!All ready for Croft now.Regards,Micky

i had this happen to me once, not on the track, just the daily driver. the end off the n,s cv snaped off as if it was cut didnt bother to check the hub ,as buy the time i got it back to my works ( driving) it was all fucked

 

Ooh that looks a bit of a mess! Never had this issue with mine in all fairness (yet lol), any idea what has caused this to repeatedly happen micky??

 

@cozzuki,that sounds like my situation with CV joints,they snap off just where the threads start,so the last inch of threads,plus the big 30 mm go for a hop!!!You do know that driving your car is mad risky,as only the caliper over the disc is keeping the whell on????

@ rstdave,I'm fairly certain it's caused by the fact that circuits are run clockwise,so most corners are righthand in,this puts all the strain on the front left left wheel.And as my driving style is all about getting thru the corners as quick as possable its loading up the front left hand side.So its the side forces that are causing my hubs and CV joint ends to break up,I think.The worrying thing is that no other RST trackday regular has never reported these breakages!!!But over the years on trackdays its always the corners where I've gotten my extra seconds on track,thats why I think its the righthand corners that are leading to my failures.Regards,Micky

yea i know lol, work in the motor trade wasnt to far away from the unit , but still had to change the caliper cage, pads, and full hub but this is the only 1 i have ever seen
