as above how do you get into top of shocky, do you need to remove trim in boot, just had a quick look there but it was getting dark,

Not long done mine.
Take the trim out of the boot, there's only two bolts holding the top mount to the inner wing. when you have undone these you have to twist the shock about 45degrees so it drops out of the white plastic castellated retaining clip in the centre of the top mount hole.

mines a '96 A4 though!
