i'm in the market at the moment for a new (well 2nd hand) motor, looked at 4 this weekend. 2 i wouldn't have kept my dog in they were that bad and 2 the dealers just seemed to have no interest in selling!

a mondeo ghia tdci 130, turned up had a quick look at it but there was no sign in the window so asked the sales woman and she said well it's not sold but someone is coming on tuesday so it's as good as sold. wtf, i've got cash in my pocket and i want to buy a car yet they turned me away cos someone was coming on tuesday!?

then yesterday afternoon had a look at a octavia vrs, rang up about it and the bloke couldn't really be less helpfull, said he was just off out on his motorbike but the gates are open so have a look and ring if i was interested, had a look tried to ring him but no answer. rang him this morning asked if i could go over talk to him and have a drive as i was definately intested if we could do a deal, his reply was "well i don't know, it's sunday and i don't like to work sundays so if you're not sure you want the car i don't wanna waste my day......"

so have i got this process wrong. the way i've bought cars in the past are the sales ppl are there to sell cars, you look, you test drive, you make a decision, you make a deal? i'm just starting to get the feeling it's not like that anymore?!

What a cock, if he couldnt be arsed to give you the time of day with the vrs, then its his own fault he diddnt sell it !!
When i was looking for a mk4 golf gti turbo, i went to see one localy at a trader, it was a W plate one for 02 reg money, but i diddnt want to travel. When i asked him if we could take it for a rip, and i knew i would hand over the money after as id 99% made up my mind i wanted it, he said 'Na mate, theres two cars in front of it and its more hassle to move it right now, come back sometime when we arnt busy', it was 1pm on a sunday afternoon and i was one of about 4 people there. Some dont deserve customers.

 

i bend over backwards for potentially genuine buyers.
this morning had a guy wanted to travel from devon for an impreza so i said i would make myself available for him.he then tried to chip me on the price so i told him there was some room for negotiation.half an hour later he wanted me to come halfway to meet him,which i couldnt do as i had things on.
i was prepared to do a good deal and make myself available,but it wasnt enough as he never got back in touch.....

 

ha ha i went to look at a vectra for the wife it was in good condition and when i asked for a test drive the dealer asked if i was 100 % sure i was goin to buy it after the drive if i was unsure he wanted £25 just to go for a test drive

 

well the vrs was up for 4k so top money for a slightly above average car, told the bloke over the phone do me a cam belt on it and replace the rear light that was cracked and we'd have a deal. he just laughed at me said it wasn't worth it so i pointed out that i didn't want to spend 4k on a car then have to go and spend another 300 quid having a belt changed and replacing a light, again he laughed said it wouldn't cost even half that to do the belt and light.

so why not do the fucking job and sell the car and have the cash to go out and put another motor on the forcourt?! was pissed off at the time cos i really did like the car but now i've had time to reflect i'm glad as i have no doubt the after sale service would have been shocking.
