Default Has anyone done SIA Training??

As above, what crimanal checks do they do?

To cut a long story short i was given a card for this training place, I was approached by the fella due to the way i served him in the garage.

Am a big lad (ok fat ) and he asked some questions etc and ended up givin me a card for the training place for Security Staff.

http://www.neet-futures.org.uk/

Only reason am askin is i have an ABH charge from 2002, would this mean i have no chance in Enrolling on a course here?

Any help would be great

You will be fine mate. ABH lasts for 5 years i think. so you will clear it no problems and if they flag it. you appeal. then they grant you it anyway. a good website that may help you is workingthedoors.co.uk, it covers all security work you could think of. PLEASE note introduce your self first(they dont take too nicely to people just asking questions, with no introduction)

Its touch and go with an ABH charge. They would need to know details and you might not get the badge because of it. Thing is you will prob have to do the training, fill out the forms to apply for the card and send off your 250 quid and they might not approve the application and sometimes they dont even bother telling you why.

Good luck if you go for it.

Just check with my fella cos he just took his.

Apparently you need a 10 year clean check. He said it may depend on the circumstances of our ABH charges ie whether you were defending yourself or not, but it may not be an option for you at this time.

You dont need a ten year clean record. it depends what the crime is. so assault is normally 2-5 years before it comes off your record to your application is granted(belive me i have been there)

Another thing the SIA will not tell you over phone if the badge will get accepted, why(because there bagheads them selfs)

Just go ahead and do your training, but dont do it with that company as they charge too much, alot of places are only charging £160 max.

You definitely need to check about the 10 year checkable history. A lass that was on Keith's course four weeks ago was refused the course because 11 years ago she's assaulted a shop owner. She punched him in the face after smashing his shop up.

So, her ABH hadn't come off after five years.

Keith's check came back clean of anything they didn't want, but it was 3 A4 sheets long with everything else he'd done since he was 14..... he's 31 now..
They could only include things that he'd done since being 18, but as above, everything he'd done..... he'd gotten away with....

Look at the tables in here:
http://www.the-sia.org.uk/NR/rdonlyr...t_licensed.pdf

All you need to know is there and its not as bad as you think if its all mostly time expired stuff. a 2002 charge seems over the 5 year limit for serious offence so is not likely to automatically reject your application.

The course itself is a peice of piss and a complete joke really.

Been meaning to call him back, need to earn some pennies before the sprog pops out. I did my badge with CPL about 6 years ago, but need to do the courses again because it expired
Worth doing, but wont bother working oin Birkenvegas, far too many arseholes out looking for a kickoff everynight. Do it, and see if you can get on a pub out of town.

I only worked my own pub, but got to know most of the lads on the cross and conway st. Was about 5 years ago, but theres still the same little cockends bouncing round in their LaCoste trackies trying to make a name for themselves, doorstaff are the first target unfortunatley, and theres fuck all you can do about it other than keep your cool.
Pubs however, only need doorstaff to meet the requirements of their entertainments license and the few i've worked were pretty cushty
