Default octavia vrs - i'm thinking of buying 1

what are peoples opinions on them? i get the feeling a few ppl on here own or have owned them?

looking at a 52 plate with 74k on the clock, 2 owners, full history looks a pretty straight motor, had the n/s/r 1/4 painted at somepoint but pulled the carpet back and no sign of any damage anywhere. it's up at nearly 4k which i'd want a couple of hundred off to be fair but i'm tempted to go back tomorrow for a test drive.

make you feelings known here please!

And the same for me, the only car ive owned id buy another of, and intend on doing so. Build quality is superb, theyre aesthetically pleasing both interior and exterior wise, and go well with minor work.

Was better built than my Bora by a long way imo.

You wont regret it if you buy one!

whats up with your handling Dakar? they handle unreal, although have quite a lot of body roll, definitely grip the road unbelieveably well.

price seems to be about averagre looking around at the moment though and it is a trader so always going to be a premium there over a private seller? what kind of price do you think i should be looking at? there is cheaper about but then there is also dearer but when isn't that the case with 2nd hand cars!

whats up with the handling on them? i do hope it can't be any worse than the vectra i've not long got rid of which had a phobia of bends and pot holes!

Totally agree with you there sarah ,tonnes of grip but i always think when pushing the thing hard that the back end is gonna overtake me,but it is a large car at the end of the day

I had Koni Shocks and springs on it...........It was a little firmer ride, but nothing to bad at all....I could easily ferry the kids round in it, and the Missus used to use it all the time. I was stuck with the Passat....lol

I also replaced all the tyres with 225/45/17 as thats what the "Skoda Boys" do........i found that made it ALOT more sure footed aswell...

Am gonna go to the wider tyres next as mine is about due some, will look into the konis etc am just wary as i dont want to ruin the ride. They say an antiroll bar on the backend is a good mod

The wider tyres are a worth while upgrade.......

The ride was nothing to worry about at all........ But once the springs and shocks were being given a bit of shit, they hardened up well......

I certainly don't regret buying one

Cat back system, remap and uprated suspension on the cards, although the standard is not bad at all handling wise I say
