for those of you without the internet:

Sikh police want bulletproof turbans to be developed so they can serve as firearms officers and deal with public order, a newly-formed body says.

it works in india but the extra weight is the hindrance

So Dojj what do sikhs in the indian army wear on thier heads in combat and when flying planes etc??? Do they just refuse to wear protective helmets then???

So what do they actually want?? an armoured helmet shaped like a turban or a proper fabric turban made from kevlar weave??? wouldnt have any impact protection though.

Oh and on another point would the huge development and production costs be legally justified under "reasonable adjustments" to accomodate a religion or would it be considered excessive?

All due respect here, no malice but this popped to mind straight away...

Fair play though hope they get something developed, as above not sure what could be structural without being HUGE.

exactly! Ballistic helmets are rigid for a reason!!! If you had soft ballistic helmets (in same way body armour is) then youd end up with a serious fractured skull and brain damage and dead that way. Only difference is you wouldnt have an actual hole in the head but youd still be dead!!
