Serious discussion only please!!!

I've watched the Oprah interview and the programme tonight and I still don't have any feeling for the family.

End of the day how many of you would leave your children in an apartment and just check on them?

No matter how safe you felt I still think that it was wrong to leave them.

What are your thoughts??

like any family who have a lost/missing kid they want him/her to be found....but like the jade goody saga, its publicity that gets it out there, and because they have cash its focused more on them than the normal other person out there, absolute bollocks as far as im concerned, not a good thing losing a kid i can only imagine but their own bloody fault leaving kids ALONE in a room while on holiday, quite simply put their own fault from what i can see.

I do feel for the parents...they thought leaving their child was okay, they thought she was safe, they thought they would see if anything happened.

I guess its kind of the same as leaving your child asleep in the house whilst you go down the garden to get the washing in. Anything could happen in those 5 minutes.

I dont think she will ever be found.

Edited to add: Although I feel for them, they have lost a child after all...I do thing they were partly to blame.

No matter how "safe" you think a situation is, you dont leave your kids alone and go out on a jolly.

I'm not sure what to think. They've never seemed particularly distraught about it. Let's be honest though, the chances of her being alive now are pretty slim. It's really sad.

Hardly the same as getting your washing in from the garden!! Shit me, they left their child in a foreign country alone in a hotel room whilst they went on the piss and had a meal!!!!

When my baby is in bed at night we use the monitor and the doors are locked! And if i get my washing in, the front door is locked so i know no one can get in......

They shouldnt have left her along but ... Somebody shouldnt have taken her either.

I think she's dead .. Hope not but ..

Worst thing is not knowing if shes alive! Must be eating them up.

I realised how that sounded, hence the edit.

In the Mccanns eyes at the time I guess they thought she would be safe in a locked apartment.

Sad thing is, you cant really treat anywhere as "safe" now. Not even your own back garden.

They shouldnt have left her, no one should leave their kids anywhere.

It boils my piss when I see a kid left in a car while their parent nips in the corner shop.

Same senario

Would you leave your children in a hotel room and just go back every half hour and just 'listen' to make sure they are OK??

I agree - they've lost a child but what idiot in a foreign country leaves them and goes out ? She's a GP he's a surgeon so both should have the brains to know better. I feel for them as they've lost a child, but there's more to this than the public know....of that I'm sure.

I honestly don't think she is alive.

Worryingly I often - like many other people get a gut feeling about people you see making appeals for their missing loved ones, and think, they had something to do with it. and usually I am right, you see it in their eyes, that cold acted detached glaze.

I get this with the Mccanns, just that odd calm exterior they seem to have, maybe I am wrong, but they are very odd.

Would I leave my kids in a room on their own whilst I went out for the evening here or in another country - NOT A CHANCE!!

Was she playing up and got a back hander that caused he death, did she leave the room looking for mum and dad and get snatched, did someone realise she was ungaured and snatched her from her room?? Dont think we will ever know.

I did that 12 years ago, when Kai was a baby....

I would NEVER leave my child alone no matter where I was!!

I guess that's why I'm asking the Q!!

I watched the interview and they said that they felt safe to not use the baby listening service and they chose to do it in their group!

I've been on umpteen holidays with Kai and no matter what he went with me wherever I went!!

I just don't understand how you can think your safer abroad!!

I cannot watch it as it makes me sick and my blood boil. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If they had dead end jobs and lived on a Council estate in a bad area, peoples opinions would be very much a different one. Putting all the bad people in the world aside, what if an electrical appliance had failed and caught fire? They would have been burnt alive. Not just Madleine, but all of them. The Children could have taken ill. You never know the minute with kids, and them of all people, should have known better.

Absolutely disgusting, and I have minimal sympathy for the family. I do however, hope she is found for her own sake. The reality is, them Children were treated how I would treat a Dog. Leave them alone and check on them every now and then.

Benni.

Here here mate I've always thought that and your a like minded person!!!

Remeber Ben who went missing in Greece?

It's been 18 years and still no sign!

As to the parents attitude, if that was me I'd be in bits, not like gerry or Kate Mccan!!

Yes Kate has now found her emotion but Gerry is still a heartless Bastard!!!!

And I mean that from the bottom of my heart

i think more than anything half the reason there still carrying it on is the guilt of leaving her. seriously that must fucking kill you inside to have fucked up BIG TIME and lost your little girl as a result. i know they fucked up but i would hate to go through what they are and for the rest of their lives.

if they killed her for whatever reason or an accident then sick seriously sick. anyone who harms kids just no WRONG!

but i dont think they did i used to. but i think its just such a big guilt factor and hoping she is alive. be AWESOME if she is but i doubt it

APOLOGIES FOR THE CAPS LOCK BUT YOU DON'T JUST LOSE YOUR CHILDREN!!!

As I've tried to say before there's no way that we would let our children out of our sight it just wouldn't happen.

at what age can you leave your child alone for a few minutes or let them go out to play, or walk to school? they have to get on with things at some point.

crimes against children are no more frequent than they have been at any other time in history, it's just that we hear about stuff all the time now and it makes parents paranoid. how many of you that are now parents see yourselves stopping your kids doing things that you did yourselves when children? playing in the park, out in the street etc?

i personally think they know more about this than they are letting on! and the sad fact is this girl is the most well publicised missing child ever! i don't think she will ever be found as there is little places in the world she could be living.

i'm convinced they had something to do with it. It's the difference between having enough evidence to piece together what happened, and having enough proof. I think the Portuguese police know exactly what happened which is why they made them official suspects to try to get a confession, but without enough proof or a confession they couldn't close it.

I have a son who is nearly 12 and a daughter who is nearly 9 months old. My son watched the programme with me last night and after it we had a chat about what had happened to Madeleine. We always stress to Kai how important it is that he tells us where he's going when he goes out and if he's going to go to one of his friends houses and play in their house we tell him that he has to come home and tell us first. At 12 years of age you can't keep them under lock and key, you have to give them some freedom. As a child gets older then yes you do learn to loosen the apron strings. After watching the programme last night, Kai said that he understood why we have the rules that we do. Even he didn't understand why they left their 3 children alone while they went and enjoyed their evening meal and drinks.

Every step of the way the parents have looked guilty as sin, and have acted totally unnaturally, in my opinion at least. If they had nothing to do with her disappearing, I'll eat my hat.

I think there where so many majour fuck up's that will will never get the truth the parents fucked up and then the Portuguese police fucked up. The parents IMO are not telling the truth but thats just my opionion. I like to think she is still alive but thats because im a parent and imaganing a childs death eats me up but the reality is I dont think we will ever find out what happened.

Yes I remember that case, the house was a terraced house which has the bathroom on the back of the kitchen downstairs the back door is right next to the door for the bathroom and kitchen. If I remember correctly her mother had gone upstairs for something and when she came down her daughter had been taken from the bath. The abductor took her and then brought her back but just dumped her at the top of one of the streets near her house and she was found crying in the street by a passerby.

I have sympathy for her parents as who's to know that someone would randomly come into their home and take their child in the bath. Yes you could argue that if the back door was locked then the abductor wouldn't have been able to get in but it's not something that you would think would happen.

However, it isn't the same situation as the McCanns, they were in a foreign country and chose to leave their children alone in bed in an apartment which was 100 yards away from where they were having their evening meal.

What really got to me watching the Oprah interview was the way the parents try to absolve themselves of any guilt.

If it happened in this country the other 2 kids would have been taken into care on issues of neglect by the parents.

Personally I think the Kate McCann (A Doctor) sedated all 3 kids to get some peace for the night to go for dinner and something went wrong with Maddie. There were reports of all 3 kids crying on previous evenings when they'd done exactly the same thing and gone down the road on their own.

I hope I'm wrong though.

i know serious discussion but........

AFPMSL @ Skeletor!

with the sedated part, i could quite believe that..... but like i say its the money they make thats keeping them in the story headlines, how many parents out there have got money or time to flash up on telly and every newspaper every day and night for 2 years on and off????

theres something fishy about those 2 and one of them if not both has something to do with the kids dissapearance for sure!

I can't feel anything for the parents, cos at the end of the day IF in fact someone did take her from that apartment whilst they were down in the restaurant having a beer and enjoying their holiday, then THAT WAS THEIR FAULT!

However, I personally never believed that anyone did take her. I think they know more than they are letting on.
