why aint you got a front plate on?

First time you can blag it, fell off, someone tried to pull it off, been to the safari blah blah

But repeatedly you not going to be able to swing it.

if they get really arsey I think they can take the plate of you and request that the dvla put you on a Q plate, not 100% on that but im sure ive read it somewhere.

From:

All vehicles manufactured after 1.1.1973 must display number plates of
reflex-reflecting material, white at the front and yellow at the rear, the
characters must be black.

Failure to display a number plate on a vehicle constitutes an MOT failure I believe? I'm also under the impression the only exception to this is vehicles exempt through age and those which have been imported.

thats usually on private plates when you have the spacings changed to read something else or are using different fonts etc

running no plate, with it in windscreen or whatever, usually all they can do is tell u off and at worst give u a rectification notice, whereby u take it to an MOT station, n they stamp it to say its had a plate fitted. might cost a fiver or tenner at most. then u go cop shop, they see it, job done

if u run an illegal front plate, thats when u get a 30quid fine, as then you blatantly are purposely breaking the law

my mate scriv never runs a front plate on his dub's, infact he turned up at a cruise in cov sunday night, n it was surrounded by police and VOSA vans, and nobody cared his plate was in windscreen lol.

not sure bout the law there but its prob the same as over here. anyway had a civic a few years ago with a big open mouth bumper and kept the plate inside the windscreen for 4 years. got pulled once and the cop actually apologised to me for pulling me over when he saw the plate in the window. Also went through the NCT(our version of the mot) twice with no probs.

if you read the rules theres nothing that says it cant be behind glass? just needs to be legible and correct size etc.
but then again if your coppers a cunt im sure he can delve deep and find a reason to do something bad.

but generaly worst come to worse its a £30 quid fine, no points or anything. ive been pulled loads of times for my german plates on the beemer and the small plate on the fez but they just tell me off, i asked once and he said you dont get points just £30 quid fine, and he said theres no limit on how many times either, cheers coppa
