it's just that i've seen a few people with side exits exhausts that run straight through, or via one silencer with some electronic operating valve thingy...

just how loud is it straight through?

oh and i've seen the cars with the turbo at the back and no silencer, aparently the turbo muffles the sound pretty well....

suppose i'll have to suck it and see.

its not that loud. depends what car its on. turbo'd cars get away with it cos turbo quietens it down. n/a cars are really loud.

yup, thanks, hopefully it shouldn't be too loud.

i've been running about with a blown exhaust for weeks so anything will sound quieter!

Road car or track car ?

If its a track car you WILL have problems with noise if it ain't got a silencer.

I run a 2.25 inch straight through system with just 1 back box and it is designed to only just pass the regs. Thats on a NA car tho'

I got 5 points due to a very loud exhaust that was on my S2 turbo when I bought it. Hate loud exhausts on the road, ok for trackdays though

DONT DO IT

Do it IMO, Turbo will muffle the sound anyway ( at least to a semi accetable lever ) then weld a backbox on when u can afford it

the way i see it is that it can't be any worse than it has been for the last week i.e. about half inch gap all round between the mydownpipe and rest of the system

lol RMS, had one from them on my civic.. not bad actually, fair price, good enough quality. Sounded the mutz nutz too when i redline it in VTEC, sounds like 4 or 5 performance motors racing each other, best noise i've ever heard from a car!

aye i'll see how much they'll want to make a backbox up!

i never said it WAS gonna be N/A
Any silencer will do, a backbox on a sierra is "straight through" and not running 2 silencer tubes, only sound packing.
That should do the job, although the bore is a bit small!
Saying that it will create a bit of back pressure to help spin the turbo up

Sean.

some pix of my saff and the exhausts here.........
some side exit and some 3.5in self fabricated.
i suppose a small turbo will muffle noise, my car is totally different with a T3,T35, and T4 turbo`s, probebly due to the boost i run but T3 on 28psi sounds the best with my current sustem, sound of the exhaust on boost can only be described as air out of tyre inflator or a jet engine?!........... fffffffffsssssssssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I only have a back box the rest of the system is 2.5 inch stainless, however it is quite loud and they sound shit, i bought an exhaust bomb to put in as a centre section to tone it down.
I will be doing that tomorrow.

This my opinion before anyone says a ny different and it is related to 2.0 turbo Technics engines
