Default intermittant ignition cut

I have a 1988 s2. I have an irregular intermittant ignition cut. It can happen out of the blue whilst driving. It cuts, misfires, drives, then misfires and completely cuts. It may start, it may not. I have replaced the battery, alternator and fuel pump relay.

I have been told it could be the distributor, the coil or the brain. This has been happening for the last two months.

Has anyone got any ideas or had similar problems?

Cheers.

I was hoping someone would say that! I have been having this grief for two months. I have managed to get hold of a trigger assembly for the distributor - any ideas on how this is fitted? I cannot find a way of dismantling the main spindle of the distributor.

Cheers

Pete.
