didnt do it my self had roof lining removed put air line down drain holes to blow them out look clean from top also having water on passenger floor is this caused buy the drain tube aswell ?
i always thought this was one of the hardest areas to stop the rust coming back as ideally you need a new roof skin.
When i had my escort turbo restored i nad another roof skin from a scrap car.
Some one on here called christian i think had big issues too.
Its all about if you want to get rid of it for a long while or not

If you take the sunroof out is there enough room to get your hand in with a paint brush to apply rust treatment of would you need to spray it in with a garden sparyer or similar?
ive just had my roof resprayed, i had 4 rust patches coming through the size of a 5 pence piece. i had it grinded out treated and fillered looks spot on, cant remember if he said he plated the holes up or not tho. cost me Ł150 which was well worth it i thought.

But how long will it last, that is the question!

Ł150 is an extremely good pricve to rub down plate the holes filler and then paint.
I know a very cheap bodyshop and it would be more like Ł250 for a proper job.
Only semi permanant way is a new skin deffo
Could go carbon fibre roof and get rid of sunroof altogether
im sure people are starting to think about doing it now.

If you click on this link it shows very clearly how much rust is under a roof.As said above, this will not be fixed easily or prementally by a Ł200 job.
These picture's are from Chritian's restore/modify thread,a very good read from a bloke who knows what he's talking about

As said above, it's the end I'm afraid. I had ONE rust bubble and look what the inside of my roof-skin looked like (in the link above).
A Carbon roof isnt really the answer for an Escort either. How would you do it? Carbon over the existing steel roof? Or cut the roof out altogether? Then where do you join it?
There is no easy answer, thats a fact. Mine will stay with its shitty steel plate over it for now. The roof is knackered, removing the sunroof catridge left the roof in a poor state too.
My RST is in VERY good structural condition apart from this, which is why its worth saving, but many have found their way into the scrap yard for this, even though I realise it looks minor.
