What are they like?
I decided to have a bit of look for another Hilux, as they come in dead handy, but even rough old ones cost a few quid, and while they're a great workhorse I don't like buying anything rough and tatty, and when you look at newer ones the prices are silly, and the newer ones never seem as rugged to me.
But I've seen an 03-reg Ford Ranger Thunder 4x4 2.5 diesel. It's immaculate, done 40k miles, double cab, full leather interior, electric windows, electric mirrors, electric seats, air con etc etc etc.... Comes with a back on it too (A truckman top-style thing, but original Ford so it looks spot on, like a 4x4 car type thing). The back is all decked out in that kinda rubber too. It looks superb all round, and it's up for £4995.
Now that's probably £2k more than I was originally thinking of spending, but to me it seems a hell of a lot more than £2k more truck than I had in mind too!
What engine actually is it though? I picked up a brochure from my local Ford and the latest 2.5 diesels in them are the TDCi engine, which I'm sure is very nice, but would it be one of the earlier Diesels in a 2003 model?
Opinions on these?

i got on eback in november
as you say for what i paid im real happy
its the older engine tho but mine seems ok (touch wood) i get just over 400 miles to a tank with a mixed bit of driving. its no speedster but it is a pick up truck (which everyone seems to forget)
if i had a little more money i would of got a navara as everything seems better on these
but i didnt and im happy with my choice

I'm not going to be buying a pick-up for speed or performance, lol. As long as it's fairly relaxing to drive and doesn't need the nuts revved off it, lol! I like driving the 2.4 TDCi Transit, so if it's anything like that I'd be well happy with it!
Reasonable fuel economy would be nice of course.
Sounds ok to me
