B&Q...are you sure ???
Try the Builders yards as thay all have wood departments and stock decking and to be honest, Decking is fast becoming oh so last week so you will find the prices will reflect this. Short of that what about Champions as there is bound to be a branch near you

Not saying their the cheapest but think they've got a deal on decking at the mo!!

the quality of alot of the wood bits they do is shite thou!! wre looking at getting some trellising to use as a fence to stop the dogs going to the top of the decking in our garden and eventually found some at a place called country fair which was the same price and 200X better quaility!!

Price of wood has definitely gone up and I would shop around.

Wood yard literally 50 metres from my house wanted £150 for some 3x3, 4x2 and featheredge for me to finish my enclosed area for car parts, supposed cheap timber yard about 5 miles away wanted over £200 and B&Q wanted £98 for the lot

Granted, the quality of the wood in B&Q may not always be quite as good as other places, but @ less than half the price, the wood was not half the quality if you know what I mean.

Still hefty price though either way you look @ it. I paid £250 to do all my decking about 3 years ago (20ft x 15ft raised on sloped concrete), including all the supports, fixtures, etc....

Go to a merchants, all DIY shops are expensive compared to a proper merchants. They are feeling the pinch and if you get someone who knows the score (generally an office bod) they will give you a good price.
Timber has been going up for ages and a lot of companies idea to beat the recession is to charge more

I get 20% off at wickes because they are part of TP
nearest one is 100 miles though

dont by raw materials from B+Q. go to a trade merchant. wood seems to be cheaper these days and i buy a lot being a self employed joiner. i just bought a 5.4 metre piece of dressed redwood 225mm x 20mm this morning and it cost me the grand total off £9.48 . and it was already treated for outdoor use. thats a big piece of timber for not much money.
