Default Road Tyres which ones.

Need some road tyres for the front of my Saff. 215.40/17 limits my choice
the following seem to be my choice.
Pirelli P Zero
Michlin Pilot Sport ( wanted PS2's but theu aint made in the size)
Kuhmo MX
Eagle F1 GSD3
Bridgestone S03 Potenza
Bridgestone RE050A

Must be 215/40 max for road use so all the fancy competition tyres I have used are out are out.

After reading 85691.3 tyre tests the choice seems to be the F1 or S03.
have used Pilot Sports in the past but they seem to have slipped in the rankings.
WHAT YOULD YOU CHOSE.

Rod

Why not try Toyo Proxy T1-S or the new ones T1-R's

I rate these on par with Goodyear eagles

look here for good prices

I wouldnt say they are a budget tyre Jim, on most tests they are on par with the Eagles etc

I would say Nankang or Kuhmo are

Rod, I think you should be looking at getting wider tyres! 650+bhp and you want to use 215's?? Seriously, you have more power than an Enzo and I bet they don't run 215's! Even I fitted 235's on my saph with no mods (although didn't use coilovers on the back..)

Can only find S03's Mike , any real benifits in hunting for S02's.
Remember i want grip & dont want to hit roundabouts

F1's seems to get a good press on here, used them before my Pilot Sports & wasnt impressed are they better now.
Thanks for the input lads.

AVOID the SO3s like you would IMA . The SO2s are like your significantly better than the SO2s (like your car with NOS better ) .

also, nowt wrong with toyo proxes AT ALL - i think goodyear ar eliving on their F1 name a bit whereas toyo are actually feting to develop better tyres.

i gad F1gsd2's on my 4x4 saph, and gsd3 on my evo6, they ripper the tread off the casing like a cheep remould, not what you want in a 300hp+ car IMO

did you send them back to goodyear to complain?

they would be able to tell you why the tyre ripped and advise you what went wrong and whose fault it was.

i did, BUT i had to buy out of my own pocket 2 new ones to put on from them to be able to send them back. bearing in mind this was 2 tyres and each had the tread peeling off the trye and split along the centre line as shown above, they said they couldnt find anything wrong. So i told them to expect the other two sent back that were still on to be arriving soon they they must be the faulty ones that havn't reipped if that was normal.

they had a nothe rlook and said "oh " we see what you mean now, and did refund me in full for them. besides that though , the sidewalls are so soft you actually need to steer MORE than with stronger sidewall tyres, i though there was something wrong with my steering ....
