Default New Disks & Pads = Brake Squeel

I fitted new 40 groove disks, front and back to my ST170 along with green stuff pads, i have changed disks and pads on cars many many times before but this is my first on the Focus. Since doing this im getting a constant squeek from the pads from 0-40mph, its intermittend but happens 90% of the time after pulling away. Is this the characteristic of grooved disks and greenstuff pads or have i done something wrong, im 99% sure the rear pads were located in there lug on the piston, the pads were free to move in the caliper its doing my nut in
It also seems worse going round corners, yes my wheels are on tight, i was suprised to see that the only thing holding the disks in place were the wheel bolts though.

I copper greased the lugs on the ends of the pads where they slide in the grooves on the calipers, i put some copper slip where the pads contacts the piston on the front only. Shall i get slap happy with the copper grease tonight? I look a right fool driving round in hat sounds like a totally knacked motor, im still bedding the pads and disks in but even now they have amazing stopping power

I would check for play in the wheel bearings if getting any different on cornering.
Grooved discs are a bit noisy to start with , until the grooves fill with dust, nothing to worry about, just don't go too easy on the brakes, use them normally right away, if not a bit harshly, just don't overheat for the first few hundred.
Personally I don't like greens, reds/yellows are awsome, but as you've found the break in coating certainly works.
I even take the anti rattle pads off of the rear of my pads(ebc) and still never had a rattle yet.

One thing i will say about the pads is "DUST!!" they are dusty pads!!
I though that with the red/yellow they would be a bit useless due to me not being able to get enough heat into them around town??
Right i shall be a bit sharper on them on the way home. Im going to strip them down tonight just to double check everything so i will check for play in the bearings whilst i am at it, now i think about it, i hope i did not damage a bearing when i whacked the old disk with a lump hammer to free the disk of the hub? Oh crap

p.s Why remove the anit rattle pads?

grooved doscs are bad for brake squeels
and green stuff pads are famous for it as well
so good chance its nothing to do with you mate
its just the stuff you used i'm agraid

The material in greenstuff pads itself will NOT promote squeal, this comes from high speed vibrations, ie you need movement to create noise(a pressure wave).
Greens are not famous for it at all, as it tends to be pads with either metallic or ceramic particles in them that cause it.
You will have done no damage to the bearings whacking the discs, just put coppaslip on the hub face and they will come off a lot easier next time, yes greens are dusty, but even more so when wearing in.
The red and even yellows work 95% perfect from cold, as I have used both and still on the yellows now.
I take the anti rattle shim off the back as it gives a better pedal feel, as the shim is a bit of absorbant rubber/plastic, and when the pads/discs/calipers were all brand new, I couldn't get the pads in with it there, and it feels better so always do it now.

Checked the wheel bearings over last night, every corner seems 100% fine. So all i could do was strip it all down again and put some more copper grease on contact faces.............result was..................... SORTED, not a peep from either corner this morning when the car is in motion, there is a very very slight squeel just before coming to a stop when braking but thats to be expected. Thanks for the advice, im definately going to swap to the yellows soon as i imagine the disks will promote faster pad wear.
