EDIT - actually it DOES support IMAP EDIT #2 - don't think it supports PUSH tho, only fetch (iphone allows you to set fetch to auto-fetch every 15, 30 or 60mins, or manually

I set my NTL address to forward to my gmail, and run gmail through IMAP on my iphone - works perfectly. Even uses my NTL email address as the "sent from" address when replying to emails forwarded from my NTL address.

Well you have to take care of it for sure - remember the screen is made from thin glass! But I've dropped mine (whilst not in a case - I hate cases!) a couple times and no bother. The back has a few scratches but the screens still fine. Just don't get it wet FFS!

As for PUSH - as far as I know, only MobileMe, Exchange and Yahoo Mail support push on the iPhone. Gmail won't as Google want you to buy their G1 phone (which incidentally DOES support gmail push). But I have mine fetch every 15mins and whilst at work thats plenty adequate as I'm busy doing other things anyway. And anytime you wanna check all you need do it tap the Mail App and it checks straightaway.

As for price - no idea if the PAYG are coming down, but I doubt you'll get any negotiation on price. They never have before, doubt they will now.

as said, i've probably dropped mine 30-40 times and its never damaged the screen, always expect to pick it up with a smashed screen but never has as of yet.

must say its the best phone i've ever had, a little slow loading app and stuff, but had it about 6 months now and its great.

as far as i'm aware the glass is tempered? that means it's pretty tough, i'm sure there was a vid on youtube on some lad going hell for leather on it with a key and not a mark was left.

i'm a fireman also and i wouldn't worry about it, left mine in my pocket during a few shouts by accident and never a problem!

Was looking at getting an 8G iPhone for my next upgrade, but as I'm "only" on a £30 a month contract, they wanted £99 for the upgrade. I told O2 to cancel my contract and I'll go to vodafone and I'll get a blackberry storm.

They offered me a returns/refurbed by Apple, ones for free

I have decided if I should go for that yet.

Anyone had one of the refurbed ones ?

That was probably the video for the film guard screen protectors - showing that with the screen protector on, keys won't scratch it....

iPhone is currently £59 and £159 on the £35 and £45 tariff's, and will become free on both of them in May, but will still cost on the £30 a month tariff. No mention of a drop in price for the PAYG...
