Default Urgent Help needed, Xr3i alternator belt size?

went into halfords yesterday evening, told him i need a alt belt for my car,
told him its a 88 xr3i, and he goes on his computer,
find the belt,

this morning i try to fit it, and its miles too big.

so, its a 1988 escort xr3i mfi.

old belt came off the car whilst driving so no idea where that is but the belt from halfords has 1080 674 0603 097 900 writen on it, so i would guess one of them is the size?

every where i went today they tried giving me a huge one :S

so i got some string, and tied it around both pulleys and mated that up agains belts in my local motorfactors.

Now have a belt and the garage accross the road is going to fit it for £10, better than getting my hands and spanners dirty
