hello people..im fancying a motorsport rocker cover off a rsi to put on my s1...but to see the motorsport bit i would need to get charge carrier made up..my query is if i do this will it have a negative effect on anything? the pipe will need a sharp bend as soon as it leaves the throttle body and wondered if it may affect airflow..do you think this would happen or know of any other problems it might cause? the pipe will be done by a pipe bending company so will be minimum decrease of the inner diameter..

 

I may be wrong but dont the fins on the rocker come higher than the throttle body??

hmmm good point..never thought of that...im sure i could get someone to take a bit off the fins if need be so not too major...biggest concern is if airflow will be restricted..dont want to go as far as fitting different inlet manifold etc as the one ive got cost me a few quid..only fancied doing it for looks, not wanting any power gains

 

What inlet are you currently running??

 

its just a standard inlet manifold and throttle body thats been chromed..cost a few bob so dont want to spend a great deal more..could prob do this little touch for around Ł120 whereas a new manifold would be a canny chunk i imagine

 

you have to have the middle machined out so charge carrier fits.or change the inlet has in the above pics

 

i run a 16i rocker cover on my motor. soon found out it isnt a stright forward fit though. the breather sits inside the TB



so i cut that off and welded it on the side, hacked the fins off on the right hand side.





after that i added a silicone 90, made a pipe with a 90 bend and this is how it ended up.



that was a while age looks abit different now, but i still use the 16i rocker cover
