Recharge ordinary batteries?? Does it work??
Boy is now going through batteries faster than I am through beer
Anyone used one of the chargers that say you can charge ordinary batteries?
Does it work? How long do they last?

Current and temperature regulation .
Hit or miss really.!
The main issue is, normal batteries are totally sealed to prevent leaks.
If you charge them too quick, they get hot and/or produce gas that just leads to dangerous conditions like fire/explosions etc..
I wouldnt recomend it.. !

Steve,
It does but you will never be able to give them the full charge before they explode.
Where is the limit.? You know when it goes bang
Also, the recharge process destroys the carbon contents which transfer the power so eventually they will go open circuit.
Some batteries respond well to being gently heated at a slow rate and gain some power without charging.
All at your own risk.. !

Just buy some NIMH rechargeables, with a decent charger, the LA CROSSE charger is about the best as it revives to ful capacity.
Don't buy NiCD as these suffer from a effect called memory effect, whereas NIMH don't.
But get a charger that trickles as well so can leave a set on charge all the time so ready to go, La Crosse does this as well.
I have over 100 AA NIMH, around 30-40 AAA, some C some D cells, a few 9 volt cells too, all rechargeable.
The NIMH do lose charge if just stood around doing nothing, this is quite normal.
Ordinary batteries can have abit of life put back in them by boiling them, or leave on radiator overnight, but don't do very well.
AA size is the ones to get, you can get adaptors where you can put a AA battery in a little holder to make it a C or a D.
Uniross are a very reliable make as are GP, look for battery tests, as they never do the MAH they quote.

Because after the initial outlay, I save a good £3-£4 everytime I replace them, hated the thought of getting my lad toys then not keeping up with battery demand as he played with them.
I'm also into RC, each controller takes 8, I have 4 models, lad has two, plus remotes, clocks toys, trust me it soon mounts up, probably got around 20-30 in the tub waiting to go, so plenty spares.
My oldest NICD are from 1981 SANYO CADNICA, bought from NAAFI in HERFORD Germany, very very weak now they are due to memeory effect, they are 4 c cells, so times their worth over 28 years and you see the sense.
LI POLY are taking over now, but these can explode which is less than desireable, but performance is awsome, oh forgot I have 3 model heli's as well, all on li poly batts, except controller 2 take 8 each again, 1 takes four as digital controller.
