£4000 will get you a very tidy RST, or a slightly shoddy saff.

Yeah, Fords NEVER go wrong and cossies are dirt cheap to repair.

Cheaper than Nissans, and Subaru's. A cosworth engine is much more simple to work on than say, a flat 4. And as time is money, you can double the price on say, a melted piston, and don't even get me started on grey imports. Why do you think Jap cars are cheap to buy, they make their money back on spares and reairs!

Have to say my mates Impreza has been a total pain in the butt, he's on engine number 4 with it now. Several other friends have had Imprezas of different types and as far as I can remember all have blown at least one engine, It's totally put me off the cars. I can appreciate a nice Scoob still but wouldn't own one in a million years.

I've always thought the Mk5 Escort RS2000 was a very under rated car. 4k would see you with a very tidy car indeed and allow for a few choice mods into the bargain. MR2 turbo is a zippy little blighter if you can ignore the girlie/hairdresser image.

Nah it's that most people realise that a Ford isn't the answer to everything.

I hear what your saying chap. But at least we are able to see things outside of the blue oval which a lot of forums can't.

If it were my 4k a Cossie would be on the drive no questions

yeh thats all im saying , i can appreciate every car for what they do but i have a certain passion for RS's and always will have and would love to see a bit more spirit on here!!

understandably the lure from the jap side may be strong with cars like the 'evo' and skyline , but i really couldnt care about these cars altough i do have some respect for them

I think he said 'WHEN' they go wrong, as in that they don't very often but when they do it'll cost you.

Love how the Jap guys bite like fuck on here. At the end of the day its a Ford site what do you expect???

And how they feel we need educating...don't they get it? Its not always about whats best its about what you like.

Nah, I meant WHEN they go wrong as in they will go wrong at some point, and at some point will cost more than they are worth.

Golf Vr6 or vectra gsi - neither cars are fast, but quickish and very comfortable and capable of a genuine 140mph

what about a BMW 325 Coupe? I've had two now and they are excellent motors, I know a saff is miles better if you are passionate about them, but it depends on your circumstances, i bought the bimmer because i didn't have enough money in my pocket for any breakdown repairs on my old saffs, where as the bimmer is nice and reliable, still looks good, and is a shade over 190bhp aswell

it all depends on your circumstances, i.e how much money you have to spare AFTER you bought the car!

alex i have seen plenty of tidy sapphs for that money, a few traders have been selling some clean ones for around that money, someone on here 'sapphymike' was selling his magenta stage3 for around £4k and he said that was tidy

3 series BM's are nice i just dont like the interior unless its an M3 evo

Saff Cossie and GTiR in my drive.

Cossie always needs something doing, and owes me shitloads.

GTiR has had four tyres, and a headlight bulb in two years
