Ford US (the parent company) is doing fucking awfully, they are losing billions left right and centre.

Same as GM

It wont effect that for many years even if vauxhall fold tomorrow as those arent new cars anyway IME

The chav's will still be there though, they'll just drive saxos etc instead, like all the other chavs do, the corsa's only 'crime' (like the saxo) is to be a good value car with good performance potential on a budget.

surely if a company can sell as many cars as they do and still go bankrupt theyre doing something drastically wrong and arent worth saving?

its probably not the vauxhall/opel side that is draining it,it might be hummer, saab, corvette etc!

look out the window mate, theres more audi/golfs than the vauxhalls being sold,,, there was another car company that was "never gonna happen" aswell a few years ago

ford also have been loosing money and ford europe has been subsidising them for years,, now ford europe is in trouble and ford us cant use em to prop them up

the only hope i can see is the parts excemption is not being renewed in 2010 which mean that car companys dont have to warrant any non main dealer parts even though they are made by the same people just boxed different and also they dont have to allow aftermarket access to there computers ect to turn off warnings ect with vidis units ect,,, means alot of garages who have the snapon/vedis machines are gonna be screwed over too as most aint aware of it happening

that means that for the first 3 years main dealer work only for warrantys

In the US, car manufacturer is horrifically inefficient at both ford and vauxhall, every car they sell over there costs them more than they get for it essentially is the problem I believe.

Hense why more and more manufacturing is moving to places like Thialand and china where they work stupid hours and get paid peanuts. Literally

Watchin the news last week they showed the ford plant in Cologne. They couldn't produce the new fiesta quick enough to keep up with demand. This was due to the Genman government givin cash insentives(about Ł2500k I think) to chop your old motor in for a new one

why,, main dealers charge too much per hour, get the aprentice to do the work and then charge for loads of little things that dont need doing,,, they charge for time on jobs that dont take that long, theres alot of bills on stuff customers dont want and the MAIN reason is they dont even make there parts anymore,, the contract them out to save money to other supplyers/manufactuers so why cant someone buy the SAME part for cheeper and get a mechanic to screw on a oil filter/change the air filter and plugs from a reputable garage with a mechanic who prob started out at a main dealers anyway just so when the window regulator fails hes covered under warranty or when the cambelt snaps hes engines warrantied

if main dealers never never ripped people off for YEARS before the block exemption then the wouldnt be in the trouble they are in now,, charge people 350 quid to change pads and discs when the parts cost 40 quid to have MADE FOR THEM then charge 3 times that to the customer, then labour ONTOP of that

wonder why main dealers are failing ??? GREED has killed the car industry from all sides,, the government/main dealers prices/credit companys who generaly are the main dealers "finance" company with there interest rates and design of cars with comon faults and not fixing them but rather making the parts for when the warrantys expire for them to get richer
