Default Any PF drummers in the house!!!!??? UPDATED WITH KIT

Im trying to get hold of a Roland TD8v drum kit but am not having much luck.

Does anyone know where the best place might be to look for one ie any secret inner drum circles.... lol

Ive tried all the usual suspects ie ebay, gumtree, loot, friday-ad etc etc

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

cheers,

Mark

you can probably play them decently though m8!!

My neighbours would probably be ok its just im ultra concientious about making lots of noise!!

I would never play an accoustic kit without the silencer pads off and that would be a waste!!

good to know theres a few drummers on here though

Maybe PF needs its own musician section!!!!

It WILL be m8!! ................... with headphones on

I know what you mean, I would never feel comfortable making that much noise on an accoustic set and therefore would never be able to relax with them!!

fair play !!

I never play at home and play liev -3 times amonth, rehearse once a week ! (plus a few guest appearances at local jam nights)

if you get the bug for playing then live is the only way to go mate, no bigger buzz than playing in a live band in front of a few hundred and getting massive cheers when you finish, and the best bit, strangers who come over and shake your hand when youve finished to tell you how good you are !!

Alright fella....

If I was looking for an electronic kit i'd have to go for the TD10, I find the Roland gear much better. But, thats just my oppinion. I've done the odd bit of work with Yamaha and find their electronic kits a bit of a pain.
I know you've no plans to gig but one of my regular gigs is on an old TD10 and it copes fine.
I had a Yamaha DTX and got rid as the triggering just couldn't keep up, it was clipping sounds as the module started buffering on me.

I always prefer to use an acoustic kit but i'm fortunate enough to make a living from music and have no probs with my neighbours...
Alternatively have you thought about an acoustic kit with mesh heads fitted, and set up with triggers??? You could have the best of both worlds then??

Hope this helps mate.....
and on a lighter note, as there's so many Concussionists appearing on here>>>>>

Whats the difference between an drummer and a toilet seat?????

A toilet seat only has to support one arsehole!!!

Thanks Macrs

I didnt realise there were some serious drummers on here!!

The kit ive been offered is basically a DTXtreme, the one with birch shells, plus some other really nice upgrades which i will post on here when i get the list....

but he has a choice of modules to go with it hence the question.

i bought myself a roland td3 before christmas from a place called andertons music. they deliver anywhere in the UK for 25 quid too i think. on the ps3 at the mo, so can't supply a link..
they also have about 15 kits setup instore so you can play, and a monster acoustic one made of all the latest expensive bits.

cool site Gaz

whilst we are taking the piss out of ourselves

How can you tell a drummer's at the door?
The knocking speeds up.

How many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Five: One to screw the bulb in, and four to talk about how much better
Neil Peart coulda done it.

and my downfall

What's the best way to confuse a drummer?
Put a sheet of music in front of him.

and the best statement of all

How is a drum solo like a sneeze?
You can tell it's coming, but you can't do anything about it.

Alright mate..

I'd say that's a fair deal as long as the kit is in good condition, and the cymbal pads are not beaten to death. But its got everything you need to get going!
Have you thought what you're going to do for amplification?? Headphones are ok for a while but get somewhat wearing!

As i said thought it seems good for that price, I'd try pushing it down a bit but I have got a reputation as a pikey northener to maintain!!!!

You'll be fine with a keyboard amp, just use the left channel output on the module as that's full range all be it in mono. I have seen them work on multimedia speakers too, so no probs there!

However if you fancy a real kit....I swap you a dw for a cossie!! Hahahaha!

Get some pics up if you get it, and have fun with it!
