Default Bulk head flex on RST

I was bleeding my brakes on my RS, my mate was pumping the brakes and i was bleeding the calipers as he was doing that i could see the master cylinder was moving as he was doing it.
I was just thinking if i was to weld some thick steel bars to the inside on the back of the bulk head right behind the master cylinder would this stop it from flexing and inprove braking???

In theory, Yes. Although there is already a reinforcement behind the Servo Bracket on the bulkhead. Better than that would be a decent brace bar somewhere.

Yes, perhaps from the Master Cylinder to the side of the engine bay. There is already a brace there, but it obviously isnt up to the job. I would take it from somewhere near where the Master Cylinder joins the Servo and brace to the box section that runs along the side of the engine bay.

Yes you could, but I think the difference of adding to the bulkhead would be marginal as the bulkhead itself is not strong. I think that a good strong brace in the way I describe would sort it. The only reason we didn't do it on mine was looks. We didnt really have time to sort something that looked good. Besides, with 330mm Brakes and Brembo 4-Pots, I can afford to lose a little!!

This was on Zetecinside.com

The mechanics of the hydraulic system

Operating through a standard XR2 brake pedal mechanism, the right hand drive Fiesta is immediately at a disadvantage to the LHD models. The Ford Fiesta has the brake servo mechanism fitted on the left hand side of the car, and therefore on the RHD car, the force applied to the brake pedal must be transferred across the car's bulkhead, in to the master cylinders. A 3/4" diameter steel tube (transfer bar) connects the brake pedal linkage to the servo, as can be seen by the photo. The disadvantage for the RHD car comes in the form of flexing of the bulkhead when the brakes are pressed. I've reinforced (braced) the bulkhead on my Fiesta, to prevent the bulkhead from moving too much. Its a favourite for scrutineers though. They'll always make a comment regarding the flexing of the bulkhead, despite whatever steps you've taken to strengthen things.

All part of the reason were looking to make a direct fit bias pedal box for the RST
