Are ST170 Calipers the same as Normal Focus Calipers?
Hi, i'm looking to fit Focus ST170 300mm discs, Pads, and calipers to my Escort RS and need to know if I can use any Focus calipers or if it is only the ST170 calipers that will fit with the 300mm discs?
Looking at some photo's on ebay it looks like '05 onwards the calipers are the same as the ST170's and will fit!
Thanks for your help!

Yeah but they will be expensive mate!
I can get a pair of normal Focus calipers for under Ł50 and they all bolt on with just a couple of spacers and bolt holes drilled out a litle.

I think its unlikely!
Have you thought about mk3 mondeo discs and calipers? All mk3 mondeos (X plate to 07 plate) have the same 300mm front discs, from the 1.8 up to the st220!

To answer your question, no they are not the same. The ST170 calipers are unique to the model.
As with what Rich170 says, all Mk3 Mondeos have the same calipers (two different versions though based on age, but direct replacements for eachother). You can run a mk3 Mondeo caliper with an ST170 disc (unless you feel like drilling out a mk3 disc for 4 studs).

As above, Mk3 Mondeo calipers are your best option.
The standard Focus has a really weird brake setup where the calipers bolt directly onto the hub, there is no mounting bracket like you would find on most other brake setups. Standard Focus calipers can't be used on anything but the Focus.
ST170's run the more conventional setup where the caliper bolts on to a mounting bracket (which is why you need to change the hubs if you upgrade a normal Focus to run the ST170 setup) but, for some reason, ST170 calipers carry a HUGE price premium over Mk3 Mondeo ones. You should be able to pick up a set of Mk3 Mondeo calipers for next to nothing in a scrappy and they are found on every Mk3 Mondeo so there won't be a shortage of them either!

Christ we have an ST tax as well do we!!!
I know about RS tax but I didn't realise people were stopping that low just yet.
There's a huge scrappy round the corner from me, might swap mine for Mondeo ones and flog my ST170 ones!

I changed my ST170 disks and pads 2 weeks ago and im almost certain that there is no mounting bracket, the caliper bolts straight to the hub?

And yes, there is a seperate bracket that bolts on behind the knuckle!
