this is the script!
ive been offered a 1.4 cvh [efi] engine out a m' plate fiesta Si.
want to take it out and take of all the injection jobbies and throw all that away so left with bare and basic engine.
next want to change the head to a xr2 number and keep it running with a carb, a twin choke item!!!

has anyone done this swap or know if for sure it will go straight in. it will be a simple and basic style of engine but just want to be sure the wiring will match up and the head will go straight on

Obviously rather just straight swap 4 a mrk 4 'scort or mrk orion engine but there are like gold bloody dust up here and the ones that are for sale the damm coffin dodgers selling them seem to think there worth money that could buy a s1 turbo cos they have had them 4 17 years and only ever driven to the bowling club and somerfield!!!!

Carb would need a re-jet I would imagine.

 

EFI inlets and outlets diffrent shape bud,so you would have to get a conversion plate for it to work with a carb!

awite mate i see what you are sayin but if i change thewhole head the xr2 one should bolt straight on and not worry bout anything to do with injection gear at all!

i dont think u can change anything from 1.4 to 1.6 due to the different bores, best to search out a head from a mk4 escort and slap it on, but why not get a 1.6 to start with. I have a 1.4 Orion as me run around car quite quick but no where near as poky as me mk3 escort 1.6
