Default clutch cable

Right ive had bit of a nightmare tonight, started off by trying to fit a clutch cable to a series 2 i lok after, its the long abs one apparantly, ive fitted it to the pedal end and then through the hole in the gearbox, pulled the cable as far out as i can but its still half inch to short to locate into the arm ? ive checked that when pulling the cable at box end that the quadrant is pulling back as far as it can and it is so am i right in thinking the cable must be to short ?

Pull the arm by hand and get the cable in, try it and see how it goes.

When doing Sapph cables they dont just slot in, you have to pull the arm a bit

yeah i did this and the flippin quadrant shot all the way back when i touched the peddle, so ive had to take the shaft out and pull the brake and clutch peddle out the car to put it back together, but cable seems to short as it would of worked ?

you will be there forever trying to slot it on to the arm.

you need to do it the other way around, put the cable on the clutch arm then get in the footwell, push the pedal up as far as it will go and slot the cable onto the quadrant.

CBA readin the replies, but make sure the clutch pedal is wedged up so the ratchet disengages.
then pull the cable at the gearbox end and all should be good.

this is exactly what ive done, once connected, the clutch quadrant is to far back to click into the sprung loaded teeth so the peddle does nothing

Found the problem it was the cable, i had to pull the sleeve back on the gearbox end of the cable revealing the spring steel outer and shortening it, then slid the sleeve back over which gave me more slack to slot it into the arm, job finally done !!, plus what a bastad the quadrant is to change i forgot how bad they really are.
