Off to the Dam this weekend!!
Going for a bit of a "Pre-Birthday Celebration" this weekend, arriving on Friday night at about 11pm and there until the following Tuesday!!
Not been before so really looking forward to it, going with someone whos been before so already got some fairly good knowledge although quite fancy hearing some other peoples suggestions!!
So anyone got any pointers and good places to go?!
Also has anyone sampled the Dams clubbing scene, looks mental but im guessing some places are worth avoiding as a "tourist".......

Dampkring in Haanborgstraat
they filmed a few scenes from Oceans 11 in there too. They have all the proper stong stuff
there is also a dampkring near the station that does breakfasts too.
Have a good one.

The weekend is a bit of a scrote-fest in the RLD to be honest, I used to much prefer going mid-week. It wil be busy, mind and you'll still have a great time.
Try to be a bit street-wise though; there are a LOT of people walking the streets who will try and sell you all kinds of shit and basically they're not to be trusted. If you get anyone trying to scam you (eg, knock into you and then claim you made them drop their crack and you have to replace it), just ignore them and keep on walking as if they're not there. Eventually they'll sod off.
The big commercial places like the banana bar and grasshopper are expensive and not really what it's all about. My favourite is 'Cafe Ba Ba' which is on one of the outer rings just as you enter the RLD (via the alley-way below the grasshopper)..
Also.. make sure you go to the "Boom Chicago" show in the comedy club in leidesplein.. it's FANTASTIC..

Make sure the taxi's don't try the "american/chinese" rates on you, it's about 4 times the amount so if they do just say you're english.
I used to stay there every week for nigh on 3 years with driving job, was always bloody skint afterwards though!!
