Just upgraded the brakes on my st200 so throught id put some piccys up,

Reconditioned st220 calipers came with carriers but no sliders tho so had to get them, venhill braided hoses, st170 drilled and grooved discs, green stuff pads

washers needed to centralise the carriers

A great upgrade in my opinion, although its gonna be a while before i can realy stamp on em gotta bed em in.

The blue brake lines look nice and different.
Don't know if I'd gone for greens, unless you're easy on the brakes, reds/yellows would have been better.

I'm looking to do the 300mm brake upgrade soon on my ST200 Estate as my front disc's will soon need replacing along with pads and rather than go for standards again I want to improve on the "poor" braking which I feel the ST200 as standard has.

I've priced up everything apart from the 3mm spacers, where do you get these from or are they just simply washers?

Thanks
Stu

Couple of small questions if/when I need to replace the front brakes on my ST200...

- What sort of cash does that complete set-up rush you??
- Whats the difference between ST220 Calipers and 'normal' MK3 Mondeo Calipers that other people use on the 300mm conversions??

Cheers,
Grant

Be interested to see how they perform! Don't suppose you've still got your old brake hoses? I know a company that will do them for a good price! Just need to send them a set first to match!

alryte mate,
you can do this sort of set up quite cheaply atually its just when i done it i thought fuck it might as well get recon calipers instead of second hand jobbies.
the st220 calipers are the same as normal mk3 ones yes.
as for the prices:
calipers were Ł130
discs were Ł80
lines were Ł70
pads were Ł60 ish
its a worthwhile conversion the difference is amazing!! the only thing i might change is next pad change i might put reds or yellows through it.
hope this helps
regards

What brand of discs would you recommend using, I've been looking at EBC, and thought about gettings some EBC Turbo Grooved Discs and some Green Stuff Pads to go with the Mk3 calipers....anyone got any thoughts on better discs at a reasonable cost?

Cheers

I was going to do this on my st200, but I had some mk1 v6 calipers in my stash with new disks and pads, fitted them the other week as they cost me nothing and there shite!
think it's the pad as there of unknown make and the feel of the brakes is there they just don't want to stop the thing lol

Guys I think my last question in this section before doing my brakes whether it be a disc and pad swap or a full upgrade to Mk3 calipers.

How much of a difference will there be in "Real World" braking performance between the following:

A) Full all out Mk3 caliper conversion, 300mm EBC Turbo Grooved discs with Yellow Stuff pads and braided hoses.

B) Standard calipers with EBC Turbo Grooved discs and Yellow Stuff pads with standard hoses (possibe braided).

Just trying to find out what's best for me with how I drive, cost, time doing it etc.

Any answers to this question will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Stu

I just done my ST24. Left the standard calipers on there but got 40 groove discs and EBC Greens from CRN Products.

Great delivery, excellent prices, and now they've bedded in they're awesome.

Give them a call for prices 01246 559933

Discs were only Ł60 and the greens were Ł46.
Best option if you;re not looking to spend too much, and the fitting is simples.!

Cheers for the info Brian, did you leave your brake lines standard or did you change them for brainded ones?
