Default Should i repair the cossie?

after waiting bloody ages to sort out my insurance claim on the cossie it seems im not gonna get a good pay out as i was 1st hoping from day one was always certain that i wouldnt repair my car as didnt fancy throwing money at it when it was gonna be on a cat d for life but now i may seriously considing repairing the sappy!

The damage isnt really that heavy and can cerainly be repaired but i aint sure what to do really, car was in excellent condition before, all original panels etc.Part of me just cant be bothered to break my car try and sell everything etc etc

what would you do guys? should i repair the cossie? been flicking through the pics of my car and im missing it you know.

if i do fix it i will need front bumper, grill, bumper strip, crossmember anyone got these bits for sale at all?

heres pics of car as it stands

depends if the 2 chassis legs have been pulled in as the crossmember went back. if they haven't or if they do spring back then the parts arn't to expensive to sort that out really.

thats nothing to repair by looks of it, sierras have a bonus of engine crossmember making inner wing/chassis legs rigid and they crease right next to the engine crossmember if they are hard hit, chop the front bodywork crossmember/frontpannel off and you will probebly find its fine when you offer new one up, iff not i`d just portapower the legs out and keep measuring untill perfect, sounds rough maby but i`m used to building bumped rallycars in a hurry for the next stage LOL

Seriously, seems easy repair tho.

why are you fussed about it being on the list? in the grand scheme of things f plate cossies are worth fuckall, anyone looking to buy a cos should be more interested if the running gear and body are solid rather than if its on the list because of a minor damage claim.

Gaz,

the way i look at your motor is it dont matter if its on a cat d or not; there are so many cossies out there that are in alot worse state than yours not on a cat D

people buy on condition (well i do anyway) i'd much rather buy a cat d with light front end than a clear car with a rotten body

dont be a goon, fix the fucker and have some fun it in; dont break it for the sake of a small repair.

matt

Sierra frontr ends are soft as shite it will all go back into place i bet

bumper and grill from rs breaker on here probs Ł200 for both unless theres a bedroom trader

Take pics of the damage and repair, so if/when you come to sell you can show why it was Cat D.

If you don't want to repair it and can't be bothered to break it, claim on the insurance for a writeoff, buy it back off them cheap and then sell it to a breaker for a profit. I guess the only issue is loss of no claims bonus unless you've got it protected.

Or you could not go through the insurance, get it repaired out of your own money and then it won't be on the register. It doesn't look too bad to me.

I've seen worse driving down the road round here.
You could do the lot diy, I'd be amazed if it needed jigging, but if it does give me a shout.
You could do this in 3 days to perferction.

At least you have photos of the damage so if you do come to sell it the person who might buy it can see that there wasnt that much damage.

Glad its gettin repaired, its not at all worth breaking for that.

Mine's a cat C on the list, it sprung a fuel leak on the way back from the ring in Belgium about 18 month ago and it squirted on to hot turbo and well......... up she went. It was wrote off and then bought back, had the engine removed and a freshen up rebuild including all new sensors, bay painted, wing replaced and painted and a bonnet sourced the same colour.

This is her a couple of months ago the last time she was clean
