Question To Paint or to Powdercoat Wheels?

So what to do? have had some wheels powdercoated before with excellent results, but to keep the costs down thinking of maybe painting a set with a rattle can (wheels to go on the track car)

Anyways has anyone done this and achieved a good finish? or shall I just forget it and pay the money?

Anyone any pics of wheels they have done themselves?

Thanks

Si

in my experience by the time you've spent a few hours sanding, spending money on materials and rubbing down runs and buffing etc i'd rather pay Ł20 per wheel and have them back as new in 2 days.

i've done both and i'm lazy now i've discovered the powder coaters

Yep as Lee said, why not get them painted at your local bodyshop, here is a set I did for someone;

Should be able to get them done for around Ł100.

A good bodyshop should do a great but cheap job. They are also easy to touch up if damaged where as when they are powdercoated they peel paint off in big chunks like oranges

i have sprayed wheels in the past with rattle cans, 3-4 cans of primer, 5-6 can of paint, plus all the effort of rubbing them down, then polishing etc

then discovered you can get wheels blasted and powder coated for 25 quid a rim

Is this the difference between painting and powdercoating?

Or is that your finished painted wheel?

Looks just what I have in mind tho either way!
