my tax is due on the frist of month,which is sunday
would the post office allowed me to get it done on friday the 27th
i.wont be able to do it on saturday

If you already have tax on the car and received a reminder through the post you can get your new tax as soon as you receive that reminder , iirc.

 

no tax been sorn for 12 months

 

Officially, you cannot tax a SORN'd motor untill the day of the tax coming into force, in your case the earliest day would be Monday 2nd March.

Vehicles which the tax is due to expire may be taxed 14 days in advance of the expiry date of the current tax period.

However, if you know the bint on the counter at the post office (I know the local one) then a little blind eye may be turned

Or alternatively just tell them that you want to buy tax before your current tax expires - they don't know wether it is SORN'd or not at the post office unless you tell them

 

it will be fine!you have put on ya v10 from that u want the tax to start on the 1/3/09 etc

 

so do i need to get a v10 form .did not think they used it anymore

You don't need a V10 form anymore providing you have a new style logbook as the Post Office worker will scan the barcode on that and the computer database will show all relevant details to your car - the only thing it doesn't show is wether your vehicle is taxed or not

you can tax a car which is on a sorn 2 days before the start of the next month although your not supposed to put it in the windscreen until the start of the month!! thats what i do every year when the RS come's out for the summer.
All you need is your documents! dont even need to fill any form in!!
