Default Clio Mk1 4 pot brake upgrade on the cheap?

What will fit, someone must know PF is the font of all knowledge after all

Hear rumours that brembo 4 pots like off a fiat coupe turbo might go on fairly easily, any truth in that?

Thanks in advance for any help

from what i have seen, the lugs are about 2 inches further apart on them calipers to normal ones so that might not be as cheap and option when you start thinking about needin to find another Ł80 odd for some conversion bracketry

Bracketry might not be a problem, as Rob has access to mill and lathe etc.

disc offset will be your next issue then

followed by what wheels to cover it up with

as long as these are fairly common then i can't see it being a problem as the calipers can be had for around Ł150 on average, you may get them cheaper or they may be higher but that's the round sort of figure 'd be aiming at

FIat Coupe brembos sit quite far in towards the strut, so you'll need to find a brake disc to suit (unless your going custom but that doesnt fit in with cheap)

406 coupe brembos are also quite far in.

Seat Ibiza Cupra ones are probably more suited, I can take any measurements you need from a set of them if you like. And the above two.

The other ones I had looked at were Clio V6 calipers, and a set of RX7 ones I had. Was a different car, but similar problems.

If you can make brackets yourself, then in theory any of them will fit. I have a big disc catalogue with sizes and offsets and the like so can do some working out for you if you tell me how much space there isn't

Are there no vauxhalls that you can rob bits off?

wheels are the main issue (i have on my pug)
the calipers need a wheel with a friendly dish on them

pro race 1.2's are good for fitting hi spec, willwood AP's on a pug but you still need spacers for the brembos

i'm going to assume the clio is the same

Vroomtsh, thanks for that.

The wheels are a fairly low offset (forget exact number) so I assume they cant be that bad spikey, as Rob's got 4 pots on the astra under a 49mm offset wheel.

Sounds like a case of just making up some brackets to fit them on then going through the catalogue for the disk is the best option then, unless anyone knows of any off the shelf conversion kit for the fiat brembos? (reason im particuarly interested in the fiat ones is I have a set)

I'll give rob the calipers next time I see him and see what he can come up with then I guess as he has the car minus gearbox at the moment on the naval base!
