I have recently purchased a amarni phone but i can not get it to go off silent mode can anyone help me please

isnt it the # button hold that and takes it off

# does not work as its the touch screen model you see. There is an icon in the top left for silent but it does not let me click it. Any of you guys got the same phone with the same problem
