Ive got a 400bhp engine waiting to go in my saff so I thought while theres no engine in there get the flywheel lightend, problem is the engineer i took it to rekons 400 brake will rip it to shreds if its lightend??,now is he talkin out his rear or will it fall to bits, anyone with experiance?
If you skim the original one you will weaken it and it might, afterall (and I might be wrong about cossie flywheels) they are only cast iron and when you start shaving bits off they become weak.
Pick up a burtons catalague and get yourself a nice proper steel one. Probably cost the same as getting the original lightened anyway.

Make sure the bottom end is balanced (inc flywheel) but don't bother with lightning on a big power turbo engine
mine was lightened and balanced and we had well over 400bhp and never had any problems with it at all
i dont see how it could be ripped to shreds with 400 bhp , bent or buckled with heat maybee but anything else ! i dont think so
