Does anyone have an idea of hw many 2wd cossies were ever built?

Saffs?

I wouldn't like to guess what percentage are still on the road.

 

think it was 12 or 14 thousand that were made of 2wd and 4wd saffs

 

Yep there were about 5 x as many Saffs as 3drs. Not sure about EsCos.

 

5000 3drs (to meet homologation rules)
Just under 15,000 2wd Sapphires.

 

while on subject how many mercury grey saphs wher made. i have 1 but i ains seen many others?

 

mercury aint that rare mate. if you want a rare colour, try and find a White one,there as rare as hens teeth.

 

Not as rare as Tartan mate.

the book i have in front of me is for uk car sales, there were 13,036 cosworths registered from 1985-nov 93

below what shows in the book, is year, model and how many sold

1993 - escos - 330

obviously theer will be more as thee are 1993 4wd safs round, this is just some info from a book that they got from ford

I remember reading a few years back that there was about 5300ish 3 doors and 14500ish sapphires,cant remember if that included 4x4's or if it was just solely 2wd sapphires.i think (im probably wrong) that there were only around 2000 escos's due to the insurance being so high for cossie's in the 90's.i dread to think how many original geneuine car's are left due to the amount that give up their running gear for other cars or have been wrapped round trees etc.

 

So about 20k in total.

I bet there is only about 10k left tops.
