yes a ford dealer in the south possibly dagenam motors built these they were modded at the dealers don't know how many they made..
so technically ford didn't make them they arrived at the dealer as standard cars
and yes I do remember one being featured in a mag IIRC it was fast ford's "rs turbo special" which was a mag independant of the main mag and was a one off they did 5 cosworth ones aswell
was deffo in fast ford or the rsturbo mag tho not sure if it was in the rs turbo mag thinking back..

Sorry mate, my reply was a pisstake as I thought you were having a laugh saying it was done by ford, then realised you meant a ford dealer, the story I posted was based on a totally different car nothing to do with this and not even made by ford, I thought your post was a pisstake of the thread about the 200 4wd rs turbos ford made.

only 1 of these 'interesting' looking motors iv seen in the mags was 1 running on arospeed 5 spoke 17/18" rims, and was fettled by jamsport. fair few years back now too. 1 of the 2 main ford mags anyways
Did the youth pinch it lol.MG maestros were another favourite.Back to this,Its not for me I never liked the rattlesnake kitt.It just looked like a car that had been smashed and they couldnt be arsed to repair it so they thought they would cover it up.
Bit like the french ones with the dimma.
think these was standard engines think the one your thinking of was the RS1900T theres a red one knocking about some where but thats a mk3 warrior kit based with round fogs built into bumper similar style to the evo ones
A mate had one of these around 1990 after smashing his RS1600i up. They had a plaque on the dash shown as an RS1900i but not all were fitted with the 1900 lump, only the very first ones were. Im sure it was one of the main dealers in the south east put them together so not a true factory fit. The quality & fit was pretty good from what i remember but damn, they look shit!
they one i remember from dagenham with anything bigger engine wise and an outragest (sp) bodykit was the rs 1700t
thats all i was saying
there were 25 made of these infact 1900cc rattlesnake kit made by fibresports
and you are right its a genuine car i have pics of this very car as im sure it is no 1 build lol
tbh they are pants mate and not considered a true rs imo similar to the hendy ford yellow mondeos remember them

think the one you pictured still even has its mahoosive yuppie 80,s phone in it lol maybe the kit was influenced by those 80,s power suits lol you know the ones with massive shoulder pads in em hahahah
and they were called rattlesnakes as thy couldnt call them an rs lol
found pics

he said he sold it to a couple of asian blokes from birminham in the early 90's so i dont know if its still about or not
mark.

The main thing in my memory re the rattlesnake kit was a 1991 episode of Beadles About where a woman is stitched up and her car is crushed - an RS in a rattlesnake kit !!!
I remember when i was 17 and wishing I had a rattlesnake kitted RS and I couldnt beleive they were doing it for a stunt !!!
check this utube link - i have found the episode in question

God how times change - it looks terrible now.

There were loads of rattlesnake kitted RS, XR and cabriolets in Essex in the late 80's and early 90's - i think fibresports in Basildon made the kit if i remember rightly.

i know there two different cars but people was saying abour 1900 lumps and i didn't think they where fitted with 1900 lumps like was said above not all where

Malcolm Wilson and Simon Nutter had/have the only known examples in the UK. Unless you've seen Malcolm Wilsons blue road car at a show or museum you wont have seen one
and as the kit was never finalised it's even more doubful. If you look through the various press and development photos for a 1700t you'll see loads of variations of kit, especially the grill and front bumber arrangement.
