Favouite fords you have been in?
Following on from the thread about what your favourite ford engine is, the one where the thread starter posted a picture of a 1200bhp YB that was actually a subaru engine instead
it got me thinking about different fords ive been in and which I particuarly liked, and Ive realised that they are ALL powered by YB's in my case, much as I like the looks of a series 1 RS turbo etc, none have really impressed me with how they drove.
So whats everyone favourite fords they have been passenger in or driven etc?
For me, vaguely in order its:
Patrick (reyland 3 door)
MAD Yum
L8 ECU (doug stirlings escort)
Mike Rainbirds "peggy"
Martin Hadlands escort (only low boost only, need another ride sometime to see what its like now!)
Phil2400's mega tidy saph, largely due to his awesome skills behind the wheel rather than the spec itself, just a really well put together car / driver combination
Si B's when it was running at 480bhp on the occasional day it wasnt blown up
Loads of others Ive got vivid memories of for good or bad reasons, like my RS500 for the fact I only ever drove it a few miles before my mate wrote it off, but those above are the ones that particuarly impressed me for one reason or another.
Anyone else find their list is a very 1 dimensional YB based affair too?

Few years ago I was passenger in AJC's monte, went to Bolton for a car meet, it was only stage 3 then, he threw it into a roundabout and scared the shit out of me, but it was the first cossie I'd been in, and certainly was fun
Yeah I remember going in a cossie for the first time about 15 years ago and it seemed mentally quick at the time, was probably only a stage 1 and would bore the shit out of me now I expect, lol, but back then I thought it was awesome!
Most memorable was sitting beside Kalle Grundell driving an RS200 Evo round Borehams test track. I was physically sick when I got out ..LOL
RSGus demonstrating his 400bhp Saff at full chat driving round the housing estate he lives on comes a close second!

, who happen to be smit, with his slighty lowered sapphire, had a chat then left for a strole home, then a few mins later pulled up and offered us a lift.
fucking thing flew and stuck to the road like tarmac,
was a good night!

I haven't been in many well-known cars but I am lucky enough to have had a ride in both of Mr Rainbird's Cosworths, both at Donington track.....and also the Sapphire up to Alconbury.
Mike's old Sapphire was the first BIG power one I'd been in - it was about January or February I recall and was a Scoobynet track day we'd gatecrashed. The best memory of it was
a/ taking on the Diablo down the pit straight and out-accelerating him.....and yes, he DID try
b/ coming out the Old Hairpin with a gaggle of eager Subarus snapping at the rear bumper........and then watching them disappear backwards like they'd run into treacle as the back end of Mike's car slowly arced round in a drift as he put the power down......and then just hooked up and powered up the hill
Also met Jim Green there that day.......
And was sat in CossieKiller Stef's car when he crashed it at Cranar
...so quite a memorable day
Also went in Peggy around Donington - very fast......but somehow preferred the Sapphire.
Jay B also took me for a few laps round Combe, really nice Escort Cosworth, he was going well as we were getting held up by Steve Riches R33 GTR
Cheers

Only two for me:
Mike R - A flying lap around the Ring in Peggy
Karl Norris - before he set up my old RST we went and dropped some cams at his engineers in his White 3-door. Most mentally revving car I've ever been in. Very scary.

Mine would probably be in the early 80's, my eldest sister was seeing a lad who had, what my mother termed " a horrible noisy red car". He turned up at ours in a T reg Mk2 RS Mexico, in red, 4 x cibies on it and a big exhaust. Being 10-11 years old at the time, it was the best thing ever. That car alone, the look the noise etc etc, got me into cars in such a big way, its what i would say was my "Favorite ford ive been in". I was the only kid at my school in a ford Rallye sport jacket as well.... happy days!
Two for me.
First up:
Andrew Gallacher's Focus around Silverstone at Ford Fair last year. The boost was turned up, and power was getting on for 700bhp. Quite possibly the best passenger ride I've ever had, in any car, not just a Ford. Very well driven, and well built car.
Second:
Fredde Lundkvist's road going 750bhp+ Escort Cosworth drag car. This is the one that was on our DVD doing donuts and quarter mile runs.

There are several that stick in my mind....
Mike R's old saph as that was the first really quick car id been in, still one of the most powerful cars ive experienced!!
For obvious reasons my brothers (Christian) RST as ive seen it since the the day he got it! Ive seen it go from standard to how it is today with everything in between! A truly spectacular car that impresses me more than alot of more powerful cars ive been in!!
Also, Stuart Beales old 3dr (think it was about 400bhp when i was a passenger) was the first 3dr id been in! Was mental, and it was the first high speed crash id had!! Racing Mike R in his lotus on the way back from the Norfolk meet and got out of shape on a roundabout, ended up doing a 360 onto the verge before waiting for the "Norfolk Convoy" to arrive! LOL!!

450bhp RS500 my mate had years back. Genuine car, seriously quick. I drove it (once) when I was only about 22. Came on full boost, and I was hanging on for dear life......loved it !!!!
Its got to be my brothers signal yellow escort mk1 mexico, twin 40s etc i was only about 10, he took me out in it after he had just built the engine, very very quick and scary!!!! made we want nothing but fords since and i am now 37 and have owned about 20. Also my m8 james from woodford garage took me out in his 300bhp focus st that was very rapid.
I remember the look on your face when you got out of it, priceless
Wenny's mk3 feels brutally quick probs due to the fact it only weighs 900 odd kilo's, should be going even better this year with the little bits he has been doing to it over winter. My mate had a rwd saph that was over 400bhp about 12 years ago that was the first cossie i ever went in and kinda what got me into them.
Chip, i never knew that you had owned an RS500?

Sat in: Broms 3 door once when I was at zoo having some work done on the saff. Graham goodes Mach5 RS500, and their Focus RS and ST
Been for a ride in: My mate marks 2wd saff about 8 years ago started it all for me, he is a bit older than us so we were in fiestas etc.. Ill never forget when he goes "whats the fastest youve been in a car?" i went "100mph on the speedo" and he whipped it round to 140, scared the shit out of me and it was only stage 1
I loved my saff, 350bhp, 2wd, minter than mint, was tip top!
Have driven a T4 equipped 4x4, that was cool, talk about a kick in the back!
And drove another mates GT32 2wd saff, that was lovely to drive!
