Greenlight didnt even bother trying to beat my quote
They must be ok for business that they dont want to keep me, even though i have been with them for years......
Greenlight insured my Passat and the renewal came through the other day.....so i thought i would shop around as we are in a credit crunch
I managed to get a few better quotes so i thought i would ring them up and see what they could do....
I ran through the slight changes i made to the policey................. Then at the end the guy gave me a price, To which i said i had had a few other quotes that were a fair bit cheaper than what you were quoting me......
He said...."OK then..................Is that all?"
I said....."Well.................yes, i guess it is"
They didnt even ask what the other quotes were, and they were happy to just say "Is that all"

Such a shame as i have always sung Greenlights praises for years, and pointed a fair few people there way.......
Never mind, just thought i would add my bit to the many other peoples posts about how greenlight have changed and dont seem bothered to keep your business

Mark,
It's hard not to take this personally, as i've known you for what must be 5-6 years.
You have my direct line as we had spoken upon this on numerous occasions and I could relate to you on a personal level with the life experiences that we have both gone through. I felt we had always got on well and you could easily have PM'd me or called me on my direct line about this, but am more than a little disappointed that you choose to join the keyboard warrior crew instead.
We did encounter problems when trying to better ourselves by improving our operating system (as fully explained by me within another anti-greenlight post titled 'greenlight disappointment'), but things are getting back to normal now.
Greenlight's pricing stance is that we offer THE BEST deal we can the first time around and save our customer from having to play tennis, or feel that they have been marked up then discounted as soon as you come up with a better quote. Which will be why we couldnt improve upon the terms we provided for renewal, as they were the best available with the level of cover that you currently have under your existing policy.
I know that parts of the Insurance market operate some kind of 'street market' style bartering within their rating or pricing structure, but we feel that giving the best deal we can to customers first time around (rather than quote Ł1000 then miraculously drop to Ł600 without any change of detail other than you having a better quotation) is the approach that demonstrates the most integrity.
The problem that we have with your particular quotation is that your current vehicle is not a performance model and the modification is the sole reason that we are able to entertain it under the scheme that you're covered upon.
As you have found, we are not the most competitive company for non-performance models as our rates/terms & minimum premiums have historically been geared toward high performance or modified vehicles (which effectively means that we could cover a Focus RS or ST for the same rate that we are covering your current car for).
I can confirm that the amendments you required were included within your renewal quotation free of charge and I do appreciate the people that you passed our way, but felt there to be some merit in responding to highlight both our pricing stance and the reason why we may not be so competitive for you, which is not to do with your risk profile and solely due to the vehicle being a non-performance model.
I'll call you shortly to discuss this further.
Kind regards
Tony

Tony
I got your message and i will ring you back tomorrow and have a chat.....
I TOTALLY understand that your not that competetive for non performance cars, infact i have in the past paid slightly more and stayed with you as i like the way your company is. But this time the quote i got was ALOT more than others..
The bit that i was a little put up about was the fact that your guy...Darren.... didnt even ask to see what he could do with the price. But now you have explained it i can see....
We are friends Tony, and just before i ran you i was saying how we spoke at times for a good hour or so on a personal level to my Girlfriend. Which i think is VERY good.
If my post has come over as a "Slagging Greenlight" post,....Then i am very sorry, as in NO WAY was it ment to be like that. You have ALWAYS tried your best when i have rang up Tony, and im sure you will again when i go for a proper sports car, Which i will do and i will be ringing you to get a price without a shadow of doubt.
Also, thanks for forwarding your number, as i had lost it a while ago so had to go to the other guys for quotes ect.....
Speak to you soon Tony, and again sorry if it can over as a negative post.......it wasnt ment to be

No Worries Mark,
I've always regarded you as a compadre and will try to catch up with you over the next couple of days.
It's just with the vehicle being a non-performance car with only one modification, it doesnt qualify for most everyday open market policies and also is outside the criteria of most of the modified car schemes due to the vehicle being non-performance... causing limited markets to be available - thus the issue with price flexibility.
I totally understand that you have to do what you have to do in relation to your policy and with our core market being high performance/modified cars clearly we will not be the best people for non-performance models.
Conversely, once you do find a performance car (standard or modified) we will easily be able to accomodate you.
Just save my direct dial for when you need us to look at this for you.
Kindest regards
Tony

To be fair, personally I like the fact that greenlight come straight out with their best price, rather than hope they can screw you by adding on loads of extra commission for themselves which they only then take off if pressed to doing so by other quotes, I wish more insurance companies were like that, so I dont really see what the complaint is TBH!
