Just put a wanted advert up to buy broken old weber ecu's for research purposes to help me advance my knowlegde for the free information and software project I am working on and thats been classed as trading....LOL

If I deserved points for trying to help people free at my own expense then why didnt Tony get any points for his for sale thread. ?

Seems to me that points given DOES depend on who you are...LOL

I complained about mine, and got nowhere...no point arguing it as even if you are right and they are wrong (mods, supermods etc), at the end of the day its their playground and they will take their ball and sulk if they want to.

Seems petty though to get infractions for such petty minor things when others get away with vile, aggressive and sometimes downright sick posts with no infractions whatsoever.

Im not moaning about doing the job Simon, I was well aware it would be akin to juggling several chainsaws whilst having a shit, whilst simoultaneously balanced on the edge of the grand canyon, and doing quadratic equations with my cock, I was having a good old fashioned bitch about the moaning that goes on about infractions. People say they are silly and petty, yet moaning about some invisible points is also petty IMHO. For instance if I see something that shouldnt be there (for sale post in GD etc etc) i can immediately see if the user has been warned or their ass infracted without PMing them, which they may already have been, therefore stopping any apparent "ganging up" if you get 5 PM's for one post

Also, its a "softer" way of warning people about things they may have done wrong IMO, I wouldnt want to ban someone for a for sale thread in GD, we now have a way of letting them know they have done wrong without being so harsh, thats the way I see it.

Whether you did or didnt make money when you were a trader is irrelevant mate, it was your business and by your own admission (i think you may have mentioned it once or twice) you weren't the greatest at running it. Once someones trade status has expired they are still considered a trader, and still bound by trade rules.

 

It should tell you in your PM from the Mod who gave you them as we can give a custom time for them to expire. Best to get in touch with your local representative for a quote

So really in conclusion, If I want to help people on this site from now on for free , I am going to have to get a trade suscription and contribute to the yacht fund

well ur initial question simon was why didnt tony get infractions , Well i can answer that ! tony asked it was fine to advertise his own personal car ! me thinking i knew best said i dont see a issue then he did so ,then stu came on line see the add removed it then i reread the rules and see that i advised tony wrong , so blame me as it was my fault

I think my situation is different on this occasion IMO but excluding that....

I have no problem with rules, its when they are not applied evenly that fucks me off.

A few examples of what I mean....

Irespective if you allowed Tony to have the advert originally or not....
Tony advertised his company name in that thread and is still trading.
Points=0

Madrod works for (or did work for) MAD at one point and still gets to use a trade user name and promote that company.
Points=0 and still has user name (sorry Rod nothing personal)

L8ECU does something for free to help , given up trading, didnt mention any previous usernames or company link

i think ur prob was the fact the thread you made with ur software started as a exsperiement then went a sale add implying no one would by it then it turned out its now free (which imo is a big mistake as you could earn a few quid lol) so i cane see the reasoning to the infraction but as the rules do state as i have read them from head to foot after droping tony in the shit you have the right to apeal if you feel a injustice is done to b admin

Tony simply misunderstood the rules, was badly advised and received a warning and had his post deleted. He has not been a moderator for long and is learning as he goes. He is also spending very considerable amounts of his free time helping the members out by moderating this busy site and receives no payment and very little thanks from the members for doing so, he continues to slog on for the good of the site, as do the rest of the web team. On this occasion I decided a warning was sufficient and handed it to Tony personally by way of Pm.


You on the other hand seem to spend a large proportion of your time on here making anti establishment posts, remarks about site funding and various other non productive postings about me, IB or indeed even Petrucci who hasn't even been here for a long time, thus proving beyond considerable doubt that you have an excellent grasp of the rules and how they work. You also spend a great deal of time campaigning for the user name SECS back, which led us to believe the company still exists and therefore you have received an infraction.

Its not the end of the world, it will expire 24th July 2009 so as long as you haven't done anything against the rules before then, you will never receive a ban. Perfect.

Off topic, and on a more personal note:
I also feel that if you spent as much time actually doing work you had already promised to others and less time on here causing trouble or giving things away for free, I wouldn't have just had to tell a customer his L8 conversion for his I4 was now a no go as i have finally given up waiting and reminding you about the phase output simulator you have been making me for, what, 2+ years now? I wont mention the WS test unit or the uprated tacho output we are still waiting for after the same length of time as its very off topic, but i feel it was worth giving my thoughts as my customer is very annoyed and likely to not use me again for tuning.

It somewhat annoying that the very same day I have to waste time on here talking to you about your behavior on my website as well.

Why have i put that on here? Because you ignore it by PM and E-Mail but seem happy to discuss things in public for some odd reason...

Tony may have "missunderstood" the rules but he is fully aware of using a trade name in an advert that has connection to him as before he was a moderator, he had several name changes forced upon him.

Perhaps I missunderstood the rules, why didnt I get a warning instead or the chance to explain ?


Well for that I thank him personally as I am sure others do to.
However, does someone contributing to the site make them imune from the rules ?
For example, there are many others like myself, chip, tabetha, pa_sjo, ForeigneRS ..etc who have also contributed giving time to others users and some that travel distances to give help like for one example, I did for Maria when her escos wouldnt start.
Does our contribution mean anything less than Tonys ? I dont think so !
Does it make us immune too from getting automatic infractions and get warnings first ? The answer would appear to be no !

My infraction was for placing a wanted advert for broken weber IAW ecu's and stated they were to be used for development purposes for my FREE software project.
I never mentioned any business connected to myself, nor did I offer any kind of cash value for them.
I have never delt with that item in any way before as a business and never will.
(for the record .. I no longer trade anything as I work full time..Proof can be supplied)

Add to that I have a user name connected with the wanted items that has been allowed (and will now probably be removed..lol).

My whole argument is not about the rules, its about how they are obviously to me implemented differently depending on who you are.
We will disaggree on this point but its my opinion and many others too !

I have ignored some emails from you simply because you have done the same to me when I contact you on unrelated matters that you dont want to discuss such as my old user name and pointed out others illegal names that have been allowed to stay.

I am sorry if this appears to be having a go but I am frustrated that I feel there is bias against me and/or a lack of fairness on rules application by the admin of this site.

All my current work is being done FOC for the users of this site as I have recently stated.
I have had a fantastic response to it which has given me the enthusiasm to do it just for the hell of it.
This does conflict with some of your business and would hope this isnt the root of you unwillingness to see my point.

This site is becoming way too strict as helping others is being clamped down on as others like Roosie found out today by offering jobs in these troubled times and was promptly told no trade ads (no infractiosn issuesd..LOL)

Its going to get to a point when all the people who like to help wont for the fear of gaining points/ban leaving just the traders to fill in the help gaps...or is that the plan ?
