Default Slow window!!!!

I havent yet taken a look at this, but thought i'd ask before ripping things apart!

My passenger window is so slow to go up from the driverside button/switch. Yet when pressing the passenger switch, the window goes up as it should. The drivers window on the drivers switch works ok too, just the passenger one is naff.

Is it purely the switch thats shot, or would the loom have something to do with it?

I know its not a major problem, but if it aint perfect, it needs fixing

to start i would take the switch off and give the connections a good clean up...then check the wiring as it may be slightly corroded...i done this to mine and couldny believe how fast they work compared to before

I have the same exact problem but did have the driver's side switch changed about 30,000miles ago so it must be down to the old wire connection.

This is how i sorted mine, found that the rubber seals were gripping the window tight so put the window down, pulled the rubbers out of the top of door, siliconed then back in, put the window back up, then pulled out the ones inside the door, did the same here then placed some plastic in the gap simular thickness to the window, left it overnight, next day, fast windows!

Well guys, i took the switches out to check things over. The wiring is still untouched, unmarked, as was when Ford did it so couldnt see it being that. The metal pins on the switches were a dirty golden colour, so with a little sandpaper i cleaned them all up and HEY PRESTO, up shot the window! The passenger side is still a little slower than i'd want it to be, but i believe it is to do with the weather strips being a little bit naff. Will do as the above post and then i reckon it'll be sweet.

As for it being a 'common' issue.... every escort i have ever owned with leccy windows has suffered from this!

I remember someone saying ages ago that the best mod they ever did was renew the main battery power cables. Main difference gained from doing that was that the windows went up like new. Obviously it helped elsewhere too, so might be a worthwhile job to do considering most battery cables we are using are still the same as was on the car on the forecourt all those years ago!
