Well guys, i took the switches out to check things over. The wiring is still untouched, unmarked, as was when Ford did it so couldnt see it being that. The metal pins on the switches were a dirty golden colour, so with a little sandpaper i cleaned them all up and HEY PRESTO, up shot the window! The passenger side is still a little slower than i'd want it to be, but i believe it is to do with the weather strips being a little bit naff. Will do as the above post and then i reckon it'll be sweet.

As for it being a 'common' issue.... every escort i have ever owned with leccy windows has suffered from this!
