Default Alloy rad! Which one?

just when all was going so well! I have discovered my rad is leaking when under pressure.
So with new being required i may as well do it properly so anyone have any idea wat the Air Tec rads are like?

I have the Airtec front mount intercooler and am impressed with the quality for the money!

Jonnie! Hows it going mate?

Unless you want the looks of an ally rad your best bet is a new copper rad, copper dissipates heat faster than ally so when your up to temperature the ally rad will actually cool worse than a standard copper one...... but they do look nice

Karlos - all good ta mate! Urself?

is that the case? Well to be fair i just want wot ever is the best option, everything else is ally so just went with it.
With the 'cooler and all the other clobber you wont actually see much of the rad so im not to fussed!
Is the copper rad simply a standard one?

Yes mate i'm good! Just got an airleak i need to sort out at the moment, XR3i box is still holding out! lol

Yeah copper rad is just a standard one (about £180 from ebay i think), i dont know how much difference it makes in actual degree's C but it will cool better than the ally ones once up to operating temps for sure!

As said a standard one is just as good if not better. You should be able to have your one re-cored for around £80. If you were to get a alloy one tho id get a pace or grs one

wheres yours leaking from, the core or the end tank
if its the core then any radiator specialist will recore it for approx 80 quid
if its the end tanks then get a copper end tank made up,as the plastic end tanks are pants, cost me 35 quid to get rad sorted with a new end tank

Well from what i can see its leaking from the side tanks where the sides 'hook' around.
Iv only been able to see when the car is idling on a ramp and the time i'd noticed it leaking was after driving it home.
Is was only dribbling however i asumed it would get under more pressure while being driven, not just idling!?!?!

common prob thats easy to fix, forget all this alloy rad crap, there for show and once temp is up on motor perform worse than std rad,too many people read or have heard its good so must be good, bandwagon springs to mind, ford rad is spot on for any level of tune, take it to a rad specialist and a new core should solve the hassle, prob cost around 80 to get recored, well thats what it cost up here,no need for a alloy rad unless u like throwin money away

ive just found a place near me that will recore my rad for £98.00 plus vat in copper, he will also off a small discount for anyone else who wants one. Just letting you know if anyone is interested, he also said in his opinion the copper is better than alloy rads at keeping cool once up to temperature.
