Default Water cooled turbo pipes

Hello, just recently bought my 1989 escort rs turbo which if im right in saying are supposed to have water cooled turbos and have noticed that the water pipes that are supposed to go to and from the turbo have been cut and blocked of with bolts is there a reason that this has been done, also do most of you on this forum all keep your turbos watercooled.

Not a problem mate so long as you let your turbo cool down for a minute or two if you've been giving it beans.
Lots of people disconnect the water cooling because in the warmer weather if your running high boost it keeps your water temps really high.

you might find that one has sprung a leak (especially if they have the chrome "rs" heatshield over the manifold cos it rubs on the top one) and they've blocked them off for that reason.

Yup mine are blocked off, think i used a M8 bolt in each one and a Jubilee clip.
Easy!

Just remember to let your turbo cool down for a minute or two after giving it pasty and you'll be ok!
