Default Fiesta rs turbo or Escort rs turbo??

Hey, this is probably a repeat topic but i am new to the rs turbo scene and i cant decide which to go for i have seen 1 of each both are 1990 (H) and both have dyno printouts of around 175bhp, both look great and good condition with some nice modifications on the engines, what i wanted to know is, is one more reliable than the other, which 1 is the easiest to source parts for and which 1 is the best to drive
any advice would be great,
Thanks Chris

The Fiesta is a miles better car if you can find a good one, i sold my 90 spec S2 after 3 weeks to buy another FRST.

I like them both but if i was choosing i would go for the fiesta cause you hardly ever see them at shows.

Fiesta Turbo, harder to find in original condtion.
I think its the better car.
I also got bored of my S2 also more common.

after owning 4 fiesta rst's, and 8 escort rst's i would have to say escorts imo, i just think the escort is a better all round car, yes the fiesta has efi and is supposedly more reliable, but for looks, the 90 spec interior is far better than the fiestas, brakes are better, plus the advantages of the L.S.D box, so for me it has to be the escort. Oh and in my opinion the dont rust quite as bad as the fezzies imo

Got a Fiesta after having 3 S2's before, gotta say I prefer the drive.

fiesta every time

but is it just me that there are millions more stuff for the escort for sale? Also hate it when people only say rs turbo, when talking about the escorts, have they forgotten about the fiesta?

Depends on your budjet and what you want from the car.

Ive only had the ERST, but my mate had the FRST.

Id say either a S1 or Fiesta. ONly an S2 if your real desperate

Over all if your undecided, if you can find a good one get a fiesta.

They are rare and its always nice to see a good one.

Warning tho i remember a mate getting an insurance quote and the Frs was more expensice then insuring a saff cos!! Was some years back tho!

fiesta all day long, had mine 3 years and i still love it, for some reason i find it more fun to work on too.

saying that though i still miss my old S2, something about the escorts. just a shame there the more common one.

S2 everytime imo but then i have got one so a little biased lol...as have most of the people sayin fiesta! Don't think the frst ever stands out as an rs in comparison with the classic S2 and the only one i've driven handled/drove terrible but that is just my opinion of course!! As for rst's in general bein common, don't see anythin like as many at shows etc as i used to, seem to be more cossies now!

I've had an S2 ERST and an FRST and the fezzy was by far the better out of the two imo!

Just felt a lot more fun to drive in comparison to the escort and also rarer too.

You should have added a poll but going by the replies it looks like the FRST is more popular.

whatever you get make sure to check for tinworm

especially around the sills, battery tray and also rear arches all quite costly to sort

anyway good luck and imo opinion just buy what YOU like or prefer

s1 if it was me though

fiesta you gotta spend more money to get the power but there efi easier to swap managements and computer based so start better, just a fortune to tune and baby t2 turbo is a waste of time

escort: mfi will easy cope with 220 bhp and its Ł100 to set up at most places but will need the efi bits to change managment and remove much of the loom to ft that but stage one can be achived for under 500 quid that anything from 160-185bhp

escort would be mu choice not a fan of the way the fiesta drives

reliability decreases as power increases lol

Fiesta turbo. Enjoyed driving that far more than the S2, and the fiesta had far less money spent on it.
Old ford - doesn't really offer much reliability. My fiesta turbo did break down a lot! Electrics mainly. Just look for a good untouched original and you can't go wrong!

Fiesta is better to drive easily..however both can be modded to an acceptable standard!

Also with fiesta check where the loom goes through the bulkhead........always a fire waiting to happen the ones i've seen

I had both side by side for years and loved them both. The FRST was harder to get power out of and the 195 chip was a bit of a bitch as the contacts were always needing cleaning. When it came for me to choose which one went it was the Fiesta that got sold. I regret it but know I would have regretted selling my Escort more.

Problem with FRST's is the number of so called minters out there that really are complete bags of shit

I have had both and had my escort first.. i swaped my escort for the fiesta and love it more than the escort...

I find with S2's they are hard to make your own... the only thing you can do exterior wise is change the wheels but with a fiesta you can do so much more...
